Follow, Serve, Rest: How to Be Faithful Without Burning Out Before you say yes to one more thing in the name of being faithful, listen to this episode. I'll unpack the difference between biblical self-denial and unhealthy burnout. Through Scripture and the example of Jesus, I'll explains why serving others is important but why following God first must always come before trying to meet every need around us. So many believers want to serve well, love people deeply, and be obedient to God. But somewhere along the way, we can begin confusing faithfulness with constant availability, self-sacrifice with self-neglect, and obedience with overextension. If Jesus did not live constantly available to every demand, then constant availability cannot be the definition of faithfulness. You can love people deeply without being ruled by their expectations. You can be selfless without neglecting yourself. And you can honor God not only in what you do for others, but also in how you care for the life He has entrusted to you. Let's learn to follow, serve, and rest. Key Scriptures Mentioned: Mark 10:43 — “Whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant.” Philippians 2:3–4 — “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves.” Luke 5:15–16 — Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed. Luke 9:23 — “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.” Colossians 3:23–24 — Work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord. Mark 6:31 — “Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.” Ready for Your Next Step?
