20 mars 1989. Tioåriga Helén är på väg till lågprisaffären hemma i Hörby. Sex dagar senare hittas hon i en plastsäck i en skogsdunge. Svårt sargad. Våldtagen. Brutalt mördad. Jakten att få fast gärningsmannen visar sig bli en 15 år lång utdragen historia. Trots stor uppmärksamhet i TV, radio och tidningar kommer inte polisen till en lösning. De har dock valt att säkra upp en del av bevisningen på brottsplatsen på ett sätt som senare kommer visa sig helt avgörande. Vad gör polisen 1989 som 15 år senare får gärningsmannen fälld?
