16. From Munchausen by Proxy & Psych Wards to a Luxury Empire | Persephone Maglaya

In this powerful No Surrender episode, Justin Cole sits down with Persephone Maglaya, CEO of The Media Socialites and a true embodiment of resilience. From a childhood marked by her parents' bitter divorce, Munchausen by proxy abuse, a bipolar misdiagnosis, and forced medication, Persephone emerged with unbreakable grit. She climbed from intern to a top-performing sales leader at WeddingWire and The Knot - closing multimillion-dollar deals by twenty-two - all while secretly building an anonymous Instagram account to over 209,000 followers. When her employer discovered it was her, she walked away on her own terms to launch The Media Socialites, a high-end social media agency. Today she works with ultra-luxury clients including Rosewood Hotels, Kleinfeld Bridal, the Ritz-Carlton, and more. Persephone opens up about scaling the business to $5.8M in revenue with 80+ employees, surviving a devastating 2023 financial crisis and half a million dollars in loans she didn't realize she'd signed paperwork for, and rebuilding smarter, stronger, and more profitable. This raw conversation covers childhood trauma, corporate hustle, hard-won entrepreneurial lessons, the importance of systems and financial oversight, and why the No Surrender mindset turns pain into power. If you've ever faced abuse, betrayal, business setbacks, or felt like giving up, this episode will inspire you to keep going.
