16. Grief with Elizabeth Yassenoff

from The Unmeasured Podcast · host Simi Botic

Simi is joined by Elizabeth Yassenoff as they explore: "I am navigating such intense grief in my life right now after the loss of my brother.  It feels like I'll never be free from this. I don't want it to swallow my life whole. At the same time, I don't want to ignore how I feel or push it down. How do you process grief while still moving forward and living your life? How do you find hope or happiness again?" Tune in to hear where the conversation takes them! Elizabeth Yassenoff is a wife, mom, and attorney who has paused her legal career to focus on her passion for supporting parents grieving the loss of a baby in pregnancy or infancy. She is a mom to two babies on Earth and two in Heaven. Elizabeth’s first pregnancy ended in a miscarriage at 8 weeks, and her second when she gave birth to Jacob Dale Yassenoff at 39 weeks in 2016. Unforeseen complications developed in labor, causing Jacob to lose oxygen, and despite an emergency c-section, he was never able to stabilize after being resuscitated at birth. Now Elizabeth honors his short life by using her experience with grief to connect with and help others through a non-profit she co-founded with other loss moms, called Alive In My Heart. Elizabeth, her husband, two living children, dog, cat and 2 bunnies live in Granville, Ohio.
