Through the use of Chinese medicine, acupuncture, herbal therapy and nutrition she has been able to create long-term optimal health for her clients using only holistic medicine. She will also offer us information on supplements to improve our pet's health. Other information will be given to address how to interpret the signs of when our pet requires emergency care, cover finances, and how to understand the balance between conventional veterinary care and holistic veterinary care. BioDr. Tracy Akner graduated from the University of Pennsylvania Veterinary School in 2000 after receiving a bachelor’s degree in biology from Barnard College. While practicing small animal medicine and surgery she became frustrated with many patients who suffered chronic diseases and did not achieve optimal health with conventional medicine. She sought training in Traditional Chinese Medicine to help them. In 2002 she received certification from the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society Dr. Tracy has had great success in treating many pets with acupuncture, nutritional and herbal therapy in New York City. Impact in veterinary Chinese Medicine in the US include: Some of the main schools in US, Tufts University under the auspices of the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society(IVAS), Colorado Veterinary Medical Association, and Chi Institute of Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine in Florida. Oregon College of Oriental medicine. There many organizations that exist representing acupuncture and Chinese Medicine for veterinarians such as:The National Acupuncture Association (NAA), American Board of Acupuncture (ABA); National Association of Veterinary Acupuncture (NAVA).
