#16: Shaun Ryder + Danny Saber – It's Great When You're Straight… Yeah, 21 Years on
from The XS Noize Podcast
On this weeks XS Noize Music Podcast Mark Millar talks to music legend Shaun Ryder and Producer Danny Saber to discuss 21 years of Black Grape's debut album 'It's Great When You're Straight… Yeah' and loads more. Black Grape was founded in 1993 by legendary Happy Mondays Shaun Ryder and Bez, who recruited former Rap Assasin Paul 'Kermit' Leveridge, Carl 'Pyscho' McCarthy, drummer Ged Lynch and guitarist Wags (formerly of Paris Angels). After signing to Radioactive Records, in 1995 they released their debut album It's Great When You're Straight…Yeah. The album debuted at number 1 (eventually going platinum) and spawned three, instantly recognisable Top 20 singles: 'Reverend Black Grape', 'In The Name Of The Father' and 'Kelly's Heroes'. This weeks featured track is 'Escape The World' by singer-songwriter Michael Forsyth. For Michael Forsyth, its only ever been about the music. A prolific writer, he is already working on a follow up album to 'Stop For the World' and his new single 'Escape the World' is the first track to come from that. An anthemic and accomplished slice of indie pop mixed by celebrated LA based producer Danny Saber, 'Escape the World' is immediate in its appeal and looks set to further extend Michael's evergrowing fan base as it picks up glowing reviews and playlistings around the world.
