16 | What is TRUTH? Reflections on Charlie Kirk, Faith, and the Call to Critical Thinking

from Trust God Be Confident | Biblical Encouragement, Bible Study, Insecurity, Trust In God, Spiritual Growth · host Sarah Coppiano

I’ll be the first to admit, this is not a political podcast, and I’m not a political expert. But in light of recent events and the tragic death of Charlie Kirk, I couldn’t stay silent. The Holy Spirit stirred me to share, even though I didn’t follow him closely or agree with everything he said. What I deeply respect is his courage to proclaim Christ and his commitment to truth. In this episode, I open up about the grief, shock, and prayers that have followed his passing and why his life reminded me of the importance of critical thinking and seeking truth. Together, we’ll look at scriptures like Acts 17, Romans 12, and John 14, and reflect on how we as believers are called not to conform but to test, discern, and anchor ourselves in God’s truth. You’ll also hear wisdom from church fathers like Augustine, Irenaeus, and Origen reminding us that truth is not up for debate, but rooted in God Himself.  👉 Pastor Clayton Baird’s post referenced on Instagram: A Call To Repent And if you’d like to stay encouraged with updates, resources, and behind-the-scenes thoughts I don’t share anywhere else, join my email list HERE Highlights from today’s episode: Why critical thinking is a spiritual discipline (Acts 17:10–11, Romans 12:2) What Charlie Kirk modeled about courage and conviction in faith How to guard against deception by clinging to Jesus as the Truth (John 14:6) Ancient wisdom from church fathers on the nature of truth A personal reflection on grief, faith, and discernment in a divided world
