160. Welcome to the Dollhouse with special guest Seth Shubin

from Movies That Made Us Gay · host Scott Youngbauer & Peter Lozano

Not all girls want to play with dolls. It's been 27 years since Todd Solondz's Welcome to the Dollhouse, and we're here to tell you that it's still savage AF. Seth Subin from @jerkofalltrades joins us again to discuss this  pitch black coming-of- age comedy, and we really just want to give Dawn Wiener a hug and tell her it's all going to be alright.  We get into the 90s icon that is Heather Matarazzo as the ultimate outsider in us all.  Dawn launched her to bigger movies like 54, Princess Diaries, and Saved.  Matarazzo's Dawn Wiener is just as potent now as it was when we first got our hands on a copy of this movie. We talk about Brendan Sexton III, as the type of damaged bully we all remember growing up, and the beautiful himbo Steve Rogers (played by Eric Mabius). This movie is essential 90s cinema, and we're not entirely sure if a movie like it could be made today. The Sacred +Profane Podcast nephtaragrace The Sacred + Profane Podcast is a provocative conversation dedicated to cementing a better future for all. We specialize in unpacking the nuances of what is considered sacred and profane, particularly focusing on sex, death, and all that pertains to the circle of life. Our aim in focusing on such ”taboo” subject matter is to demystify what is unconscious, bring to light what has been known for centuries as ”the occult,” and empower the rapid transformation that is occurring on the Planet.
