You are now listening to the UK and the world's favourite wrestling podcast. RT and wrestling with your host Andy and Emma. That was quick. I was expecting you to do any warning.
I was expecting at least a minute to collect my thoughts. Just talking about me period as well. I don't think there's any women who listens to this but you know like men need to know it's fucking socks. So cheers.
Cheers. It's my drink you know with the ice cubes in. Yeah. It's my soul tummy.
Oh no. Over than that though. Yeah. How are you doing?
Yeah I'm really good. It's been a productive day today Saturday. Yeah. I've got some lovely food.
I'm hot dogs tonight. Hot dogs. We've fried on news. No hot dog dog shit.
No one's ever in like rhyme in a jar that don't even need to be refrigerated. It's like self fucking disgusting. It's a real sausage. Yeah.
I'll go fucking mother. Don't want any of these hot dog shit. Do you want to help? I'll go through phases though.
I've enjoyed your hot dog. Like a hot dog sausage. If I'm not given the choice if we're like say we're our fairground. Yeah.
And you buy a hot dog. It's going down nice. I can deal with it. We're followed by some candy floss.
I don't think I can eat candy floss anymore. It's too similar to cotton wool and you know what I mean? We've got more mason tea. Oh no.
I've never been able to eat candy floss. I think I've probably done it under five times in my life. Oh it's very nice. It is.
But it just doesn't, I don't know. It just feels weird. It feels like you're eating the inside of your hoover. Yes.
Going on that build up shit. That's also like grown up shit. The inside of your hoover. But you know what?
You can't be on the fairground hot dog nuts. No. Christ. They're going to be in a thousand calories per bite.
God. What God. And the smell. The smell.
I can actually smell it now. Then back in the days where they didn't need to fake this with this aroma gas shit. Like whatever you want past a KFC or a McDonald's or a Subway, the fucking worst. Subway, a walking past a Subway.
I feel like I've eaten a sandwich. Listen, I know everyone's in it informed these days and you all know this. However, I used to know someone who works with BOC gases and they actually sold loads of aroma gas to places like Subway because think about Subway, right? I know they're baked their bread but lots of places like the bread and you don't want to smell it coming out the door.
But Subway smells particularly like Subway and it's gas. They just pump out gas. That was a big deal for me than being sold to one reel. I know it's awful.
It's not like you're joking. That's not real. That's not the chicken being cooked right now. Well then.
Supermarket's a right for it because if you remember back in the 90s, as-der, you smell like a bakery. It doesn't smell like a bakery anymore because they switched up. They don't do aroma gas. Don't pump it out anymore.
Just fucking do it. Just do it. Just do it. Just for me.
Just for the nostalgia. Walking to an out of San coffee shop, don't really smell coffee that much. Walk within a hundred yards of a cost or a Starbucks and it's pumping out. Making one cup of coffee a time doesn't smell that strong.
It doesn't smell to come out on the street. Gas, gas guys. One kiss. One kiss, aren't they?
Yeah. Like Subway the worst. Like I know I'm near a subway before I see it. It's like what the fuck is that?
Oh, it smells like the baking bread again. So is that gas? Anyway, what other than that? How are you doing?
Does this need to be resonated? No. Okay. How are you?
I'm good. I've had a reasonable week. I've had a few days off. You think I would have spent my time watching wrestling, wouldn't you?
I've been watching the answers note to that. I've briefly seen some of AW from last night, but I've only watched one show, which I'll get into in a little while. But yeah, yeah, just it's great that it's sunny. I've got a few more days off coming up.
E3 started, even though I don't give a shit now because Elden Ring has been announced. So you'd be soft to tell me what your next Assassin's Creed is. I don't give a shit. Yeah, your ores are on.
I'm not that asked about that, but I'm sure when England starts I'll, you know, county playoffs. Just for all of our hundreds of listeners in North Bergen. The Euro's is a football tournament that contains European teams and county. It's not Port County if off of England.
Yes. Of the National League. If you don't know what National League is, Google it. I'm in a silly mood as well, which normally bodes well for a show because I feel like we've got a few negative things to talk about.
But I do want to try and put some sort of a positive spin on them in a comedic way, hopefully, because I've got a few things to say. A comedic way. Same as up that. I've got a few things to say to you, Hunter.
I've got a good little bit planned for you later. Paul, speaking of Paul though. In a thing that I thought was quite cool before we started properly. Philly, NBA playoffs as well.
I've been enjoying watching like the nine minute highlight videos of what's going on. And Philly came, you know, and B did the crotch shop. And obviously WWE get all over it and just promoting the fuck out of it. And then Triple H actually coming out with N.B.
during a Phillies game. The pop that he got when he came out was like pretty amazing. It was intense. I heard it because you had it playing out loud while I was in the kitchen.
That was pretty cool. That was pretty cool. And he made like shirts, written B. I was like, you got to sell them.
Then went on the shop. Obviously they don't want to sell them because they're left on literally. I'm going to say this once right now. I'm never going to say it again on the show today.
But the left hand don't have a fucking clue what their rights doing with that with this fucking company. There's going to be loads of loads of, I'm going to give you the blueprint of what's the fuck's going on because of it. But Christ don't even get me started. But yeah, should we get going?
Let's do it. Hello everyone and welcome. Once again, it's our team wrestling episode 161. If you could believe that shit, that might be the title of the show.
That should be the title of the show. The bull shit knocking out of Connecticut this week. I'm fucking Stanford. I hope you're all doing well.
I hope you're all staying safe. I'm a deer in the pro calls and all that kind of stuff as much as you can. You've had a good week. Right, let's crack on.
So normally open the show with what I've watched. It's only one thing this week. Oh, my was it a show? Oh, my was it a show.
So watching the Nij van Pro Wrestling Dominion, which was fucking great. And just exactly what I needed. I'm not going to go for it too much, but obviously two. Well, I'm going to say three main matches because I'm going to include the IWGP Junior Heavyweight title in this as well.
Esperado, who was in hospital with COVID two weeks ago, putting on a great match with Yo, he retains, Abu Shinkob, just give me from now to the end of time. That's all I need. But I love the story going in. There isn't much of a story, but it's just I'm going to use your finisher and I'm going to fuck you up.
And he did. And Abu Shink can sell being fucked up. But it was great. That was fantastic.
And then the main event, Shingo and Akada was unreal as well, considering Akada's had a shitload of problems. He had COVID a couple of weeks ago. And Akada's probably going to disappear into the night again now. But yeah, just, we'll join it.
New Japan at the moment is exactly what I need. I need no bullshit. I need no run-ins. No fucking NNA fights.
No girl with a doll. No fucking two second build to a pay-per-view. I just want, I'm better than you. And then the other guy saying, I think I'm better than you.
Let's fucking go for half an hour. That's all I need at this moment. I feel like my brain doesn't have. Which is probably why I'm not like, dived all over AEW today.
But I'll just finish work as well. So I've been watching it now. We've been doing the show later. I just want to fuck it.
Yeah, it's just exactly what I need. It's just great wrestling. I like the people in it. I mean, vested in the people in it.
The good guys, the bad guys. I don't fucking need all this extra shit right now. Not saying the extra shit isn't good. Just right now.
I just, all the bells and whistles. Just take them away. I just want to watch wrestling. And I've got shit loads to catch up on.
I've got a Harrow H show. I was going to watch Impact because that was a go-on show. But I probably won't even watch the pay-per-view. But I do have a little rundown of the pay-per-view.
So we've got two this. I wasn't even aware of this. Well, you wouldn't. Do you know what, do you know what?
Impact was a way of things. Yeah. Just the other one. Just the other one.
Just the other one. Yeah. Just the other one. Yeah.
Just the camera's a surprise to everybody. But we'll get to that when we get to it. So number one on the news this week, SummerSlam. There's now officially been announced, revealed.
It's going to be in Las Vegas on August 21st. The release of SummerSlam travel packages, the cheapest one you can get. I think it's about $1,100 unless you go in a group and then it comes down. So I can mean you were going to go and we just want it to be in the building.
It'd be about $900 each. I think you get like a two night hotel stay. You get your ticket. I think it's in a stadium.
Twenty-first of August. Twenty-first of August. Yeah. That's when they're doing it.
But they are doing it on the same night as a Mani Pacquiao fight. So they're going to have it earlier on in the day. I've just looked on my calendar and because I knew about the clash with... No, it's not a clash because obviously there aren't different times.
It is a clash because it's the fucking... And I know boxing kind of leans that way. But the main event of SummerSlam, the way they've timed it, if they don't run over, will finish about 15, 20 minutes before the Pacquiao fight starts. But they're doing that so that people can run from the stadium to the arena where the Pacquiao fight is and see it.
It's just... Why is it on a Saturday? I honestly... that's why I got my calendar up because I was thinking, hang on a minute, boxing is never used on a Sunday.
Like it's always a Saturday night. I thought, you know, I could be completely wrong. But like I always thought they're big, sort of like big fight nights and Saturday nights. So it's like, well, then how on Earth is it clashing?
We have WWE that always has their paper on a Sunday. So it's right versus a Saturday? It's a Saturday. So why are they having it on a Saturday night when they could have had it on a Sunday night and got out of the way of the fight?
Or do they think that having it on the same night as the fight is going to get more people there? Is that what they're thinking? See, this is what I saw. So initially when it was kind of rumoured and nothing Brian was kind of messaged saying, you know, he's about a three-hour drive from him.
Oh, that's cool. He could just slide that. I don't know if I'm honest. I've not seen anything kind of since.
He was thinking of... Because it was supposed to be WrestleMania, he was supposed to be going to, too, because it was like LA. Oh, yeah. And I think he thought SummerSlam was going to be in LA because he'd taken the WrestleMania away.
And then he wasn't. It's been announced as Vegas. So at that time, and that was about two weeks ago, what I was seeing was people speculating as to why they're doing it on... And I didn't know it was a Saturday.
I just assumed it was Sunday. And loads of people were saying, well, they want to kind of piggyback off this Paci Alpha ite for the media attention, because it'll be very easy for Summer... And this is fucking insane, right? So WWE, the number one, without a doubt, number one wrestling company in the world, a piggybacking off the back of a boxing event, because they want, on the off chance, that's some of the media people who are doing the Paci Alphaite to do SummerSlam as well.
Okay. So I think that's going on with SummerSlam saying, we can kill two birds of one stone. We can interview Paci Alphaite in interview Cena at the same time. And he's just like, one's in a stadium, the other one's in an arena.
I know there's a paper view by us and all that kind of stuff. There's going to be a lot more interest in a money Paci Alphaite than there is, but John Cena versus Reigns, without a doubt. But what the fuck are they thinking? Why would that be the thought process?
Let's piggyback off the back of this boxing event and try and create a bit more buzz around it. It is a bit of a weird, it's very, very strange. It's quite... It's the most unwed WWE thing I think I've ever heard, to be honest.
They don't usually do that. They don't, they're not that opportune if that makes sense. And they don't, we are, again, I say it every fucking time. Apples and oranges, you know, boxing and wrestling.
It is so different. I've met a lot of boxing fans, you know, through like work. They've never been wrestling fans. They've always been the con soo-con, oh, I used to watch that when I was kid.
You know, Stone Cold's still in it. That's sort of shit. It's all cold and still in it. What about the British Bulldog?
That's sort of crap. Yeah, he's dead mate. But like, it's just really weird move for WWE, I think, to want to piggyback off the back of boxing. So just remember something else that I saw that was, it was the, it was a stadium that said you can have it on Saturday not Sunday.
Okay. Now whether or not that's true, who knows, but they want to do a WrestleMania level show. Because obviously WrestleMania was, let's be honest, it was shit. You had one face win and everybody else was a heel that won.
Now, you can say they booked the heel as well. You can argue that for a crowd. You know, there was 11,000 there the first night, 15,000 there the second night. For a live crowd, if the face, if some faces aren't winning, they're not having a great time because the heels that they've got, no one's asked about.
Well, it's back to that thing of mainly needs to be a payoff of what should be some long-running storylines because it would end that night and people who, you know, it should be a payoff. So henceforth, it should be someone you want to win, at least on a few of them. Yeah, on a few of them. And this is the thing like, you know, the heels can win, I don't have an issue with that, but it's when no one gives a shit about your heels.
That's, that's what I have a problem with it. Because I won't, you know, you know, right? Nobody gives a fuck. So they're not booing because they're having a good time and it's fun to boo the person.
They're booing because Alexa's just had Castro GCX coming out of fucking forehead. And the return of the fiend has been ruined. And we've never seen him since. And I know he's got his own sort of issues, like he's struggling with the moment.
And that was apparently why they called it, didn't they, on the night. But you could have still fucking won. It doesn't matter. Agree.
Jesus fuck. I'm going to grab another drink, he's out of the round. I'll still shout from the kitchen area because that's more. Go for it.
Yeah, it's, it's, it's Beggars Billy. But hopefully that'll be a good show because that's, you know, I'm, I'm interested in a WWE stadium show. I won't have seen anything going into it so I can, I can really, I mean, this, this theory that we had of, well, we don't watch any of the show. So maybe the pay per view is going to be like really enjoyable.
That didn't really come true with wrestling, but it might happen with SummerSlam. And who knows if it happens with Helen Sealth because I ain't watching that shit. Okay, point two. Let's move on.
Matt Cardona. Did you think we'd be talking about Matt Cardona or a new segment? No. So Matt Cardona has arrived in Game Changer Wrestling.
So GCW. Cardona formerly known as that guy that turned up at the show held in Atlantic City, New Jersey on Sunday attacking Nick Gage. Oh dear, oh dear. The man who featured recently in the dark side of the ring episode, which I do actually want to see, I'll probably get to that at some point.
Gage just defended the title against Jimmy Lloyd on the show. When Cardona made an appearance in a black hooded role, so I've watched it himself from like three trillions, I think they called it. And Gage kicks the shit out too very, very easily. And then the other one starts messing about like, like, Moxley starts doing like the, you know, like the arm roll thing.
And then he hits Gage with Moxley's paradigm shift, DDC, takes the mask off and it's a Zack Ryder. All of this crowd not like that. Oh, they popped up first because that's a bit I saw. They were super shocked, but then it went so booze very, very quickly.
But Cardona for his credit knew that and was slipping them off, which of all was great. They've now announced the match. So Gage is covered in blood, right, at this point, when Cardona saw goes out there. He beats up two of the things, gets a light tube, smacks it off his own head and he's just completely drenched in his own blood, completely drenched.
And the first thing with the announcement, because I thought, oh, Moxley's kind of gone back and forth and they've not announced the match. So maybe this is just another, okay, let's get something with a reasonable name just to appear and then they'll go off again. Now they've announced the match. I clicked into this Twitter thread announcing this much and the first fucking thing that came up was the thing from Stand By Me with a kid saying, you guys want to see a dead body?
Oh my God. That card I was going to get fucked up. I'm trying to make a name for himself in a different way, isn't it? He's trying to like become more of a wrestler, like a wrestler, like a wrestling fan's wrestler, if that makes sense, rather than, you know, what he was, in WWE, which was kind of like, as close as I imagined that any man would find another man, Cutesy.
Do you know what I mean? He was a Cutesy wrestler. It's a bit like- He was a male beller. That's what he outlined.
He was a male beller. He was very, very likable. It's such a likable man. I can totally see why he wants to do this.
I really can, because I think that there's only so many doors that Zack Ryder character can open for him in the rest of wrestling. Whereas something like this, it's a game changer. You can go everywhere and you can do all sorts of people take you a bit more seriously. However, it's a slightly worrying- It is a little bit because I mean, it's not worrying.
You know, they'll all be fine. It's all cosmetic. They'll all be fine. But it's a bit of a step change in it.
Because like Cardo and Sunup on AW did a couple of weeks there when off, he's been on impact. I thought he was going to get the title shot, but he didn't. Obviously because he was the only one that I knew he was and I'm joking. That's not true.
But it's a bit of a step change from- Because I remember on impact, he had a match with Brian Myers, who's the Kurt Hawkins character that he does a podcast with. And it was a WWE-esque match where it was just like a lot of we were in and a lot of posturing to the camera and all that kind of shit. This is a different game. And I feel like if you ate of that manic mindset, because when was the last time?
I'm trying to think of the last time where I saw Blood on that, either. And I'm sure he's more than understands what he's getting himself into. But if you've had like a 15-year-esque career where you've just been the guy that goes woo-woo-woo and kicked somebody in the face in the corner, it's a big step change from going from that to getting slammed on glass tubes and light tubes and being covered in your own blood. It's a massive change.
So I've got tons of respect for the guy. But I don't- When I saw the poster and it's like, Matt Cardona doing his like, you're the long island thing, but one of them is doing the middle thing. Which is great. I was looking at that man on that poster and I was thinking, you don't know quite what you've signed up for it.
I think somebody's asked you to do something and you've gone, yeah bro, of course, let's do it. And then you've gone that to that show and you've met that Nick Gaid, I bet he's shitting himself now. Because Nick Gaid, we were kind of talking off the show before, but I say, is like a legitimate badass character, believable in wrestling. And I think that's probably a quite good topic in terms to talk about at some point.
Is there any like guys that you would, or women as well? There's probably more women than men actually, for most. That you would, the eternal, if you met him in a dark alley, you'd run out. I have a better one for you here.
Every single wrestler in the world is that you're a disposal. You find yourself in a really kind of like scary bar brawl. Who do you want by your side? Nick Gaid.
I mean, if it's women, I'm choosing Shana Baszler. Yeah. I think she fucking killed people. We know she can fight because we know she can.
But she's my bar brawl buddy. Porta, yeah. Porta against like a human being. She's fine.
Against the dog. Against the dog. I think anybody would be scared. I'm honest.
Oh, okay. Stocks about by a fucking dog. Literally this bitch can like kill people. It's like, oh dear.
Anyway, if Shana Baszler and Alexa bless other real fire, it wouldn't be fun to watch. No, it'd be awful. Because it'd be an absolute beat down. It'd be like a seeing him pull a beat down.
Bless him. No one wants to see that. So, so would he be your bar brawl buddy? I think right now, if I was thinking of anybody, because like big guys, it doesn't matter.
Like big guys doesn't doesn't matter. It doesn't matter how big somebody is. There's a switch that goes off in certain people's heads. And you know, he's talking about like legitimate fucking badasses.
Like I think Moxley has got a reasonable reputation for himself, but I wouldn't feel comfortable with Moxley. I wouldn't feel comfortable with Kingston. I'd be a little bit like, okay. Yeah, let's try.
But if Nick Gages is like, I don't give a fucking walk through that dog because he's going to eat the face. He's going to eat their own eyeballs. And you know. I knew question then to anyone who listens to this podcast.
Who's your wrestling bar brawl buddy? Who's your second? Or who do you want to be the second of? Yeah, yeah.
Because I can't make it for you. So, you make your hands dirty if you, you know, without an out and engage. So, I don't think, and I'm sure it'll be fine. But I don't, what I want to see is the fallout.
Like, obviously, what I see the match, I wouldn't pay to see it because I'm not a massive deaf match kind of guy. But I want to see that first time when Nick Gage wraps a light sheet around the fucking face and then takes part of the glass to cut him open. I want to zoom in shot of Matt Cardona's face because that'll be the time when you realise he's in there with a different animal. Yeah.
I have a theory on Matt Cardona and it's purely out of my own imagination. Okay. I think him and Moxley are a very weird friendship with each other. And I don't mean weird doesn't like, you know, romance.
No. I just mean that like, I think, I think those two are a bit of an odd couple friendship. And I think that this is all advice from his friend too. Yeah.
You really want to do this, mate. And you know, it's a 1985 baby like myself. So I mean, he's 36. It's now or never.
If you want to start, if you really want to go into, you know, like potentially, you know, I know it's impossible. Like it's not, it wouldn't happen. But I think obviously when you're a wrestler, you know, the sky must feel the limit sometimes. If you potentially want to go back to WWE and have an AJ Styles, I think, in the early 40s.
You know, he's got like a bit of time to prove that he's, you know, he's actually a bit of a bad ass. You know, to become bad ass is a fucking stretch in it. But, you know, to become like, you know, desirable to wrestling companies again. Or at all, really, is I think he's got to do something.
He's got to step out of that zone. Everybody knows him as and they love him for it. But it isn't enough anymore. Because we don't got to re-sign him on it.
So he's got to stand out and he's got to do something a bit more. And it seems to me like I can imagine Moxley has set this up for him. Oh, yeah. And that's, they might not know each other.
I don't like each other. But I've got a weird feeling that those two are mates. And if you've got like a death match, can it? I know it's not quite a death match company.
Well, the title matches are always insanely bloody. I mean, the only thing, for the only thing I've seen is like Moxley, getting involved. And like I've never actually watched one of their shows, but I've watched like the highlights they put up and the commentators are swearing all over the place. So it's one of them, it's one of those types of companies.
Matt Cardona isn't the first name that goes on my list. It's odd as if it was like Nick Gage against fucking Cena. It's like that odd. It is odd.
But now I think it makes it tons more watchable for loads of people. Like really that guy? Like he's going to do this? Let's see.
Let's watch. So it might get more weirdly, more eyeballs on it. It will 100% get more eyeballs on it because you'll get the people that are intrigued. Like it was.
And you'll get the people that legit want to see this guy get killed. And like that was the first thing that I saw was that stand by me like this. I didn't even laugh. I was just worried.
I was just worried. I was just like you guys want to see a dead body. But like, it's because the thing for me, for Matt Cardona, is a disagree to some level of that he needs to do this to get relevant because he's on impact. He can do his woo woo shit.
He can do AW every now and again. He's not going to get picked to go to New Japan because he's not the best in Ring Performer. He's alright. But he ain't having a classic match with Akada and all what they want him to.
So what is it that he's trying to prove? Is he trying to prove to like a mate like Moxley that he can do the sort of damn sort of things? Is he trying to prove to like himself? Because this is the thing because I saw something on the Lance Storm Alvarez show that I watched today which I thought was really interesting point.
I was going to put it as a news topic but I completely forgot about it until now. Somebody like tweeted a spot where there was like a superplex from the top onto the outside. So there was a spot where they're going out of the Ring onto a concrete floor. So there was no padding.
So they did a superplex. And he sort of quoted it and then was like give it the whole Brett Heartline. There's an old Brett Heartline that's an empowering phrase on this one. It's like back in the 80s, everybody thought it was real and we barely touched each other.
And we called him Mark's for thinking it was real. Now the fans know it's fake but the wrestlers are doing all this mental shit and legitimate stuff that I'm fucking hurt himself. Who's the Mark now? And a lot of people got angry at Lance Storm for tweeting that.
But he kind of explained it. People are getting angry about that sort of thing. It's the same point. Yeah it is.
I think it's a really good point and it's a really interesting discussion topic because we all know it's fake. I personally don't like to see things that could injure somebody. So I've got a big problem with New Japan about dropping at each other on the ads because they do it all the time. They drop each other on the fucking next all the time.
There was a spot in the Young Bucks match I think because I saw a bit of that one definitely from last week where there was a German suplex where Nick landed on his head. But it was meant to happen. Well because they feel like they can take it. They do it.
And it's like okay does that German suplex take me out or add to my enjoyment of the match? Maybe maybe not. But you don't need to do things for the sake of doing them because we know it's not real. Now what Lance Storm was kind of saying is it's a lot because this show, this was like an indie show and I'd like fucking 10 people like it.
And it's just like what what's your purpose for doing that sort of thing? Because there's two reasons why you could do something that's stupid and dangerous. So ECW back in the day that was their thing. They used to crack each other legit in the head with chairs like balls in my home.
I've never seen a motherfucker being hit with a chair. The way balls in my home used to swing that chair of people's heads. And it's a bad thing. That's why headshots are outlawed and all that kind of stuff because of concussions and all that kind of shit.
But ECW that was their thing. Their thing was extreme wrestling. Now if you're doing it for your fans, if your fans know you for that and that's the reason why you're doing it. Then he said that's fair enough because you're appealing to people in the audience.
What he has the issue with is most of these spots are done because the wrestlers are the fans and they're trying to impress each other. So you're the marks now by doing all these mad spots. That could be really dangerous. But the reason why you're doing it isn't for an audience member.
It's for the boys in the back. And that's a big that's a big problem because if the crowd aren't really asked anyway, then why would you bother? Because there's loads of spots I think look painful. And I'm sure they're not.
But let's go for example the running into the ring post. That's a big one. A lot of people have had injuries from doing that where they've gone too far and they've legitimately hit it. Most people run through and slap it so it sounds like they've hit the post.
That gets zero reaction from the crowd. Like when was the last time you had a guy who moves out the way and the guy goes flying into the ring post spot that had actually had a reaction? I can't remember this at the last time. Maybe it was recently, maybe it wasn't.
But I can't remember that recently. So why bother doing it? Because the crowd don't fucking enjoy it. And it's the whole like when someone gets picked up and I think it was Hangman and Brian Cage from the double nothing.
Hangman got powerbombed. We got like thrown powerbombed into the ring post. And the crowd went ooh and it looked like it fucking decked. So why are you doing that spot?
Do you think the crowd are going to pop and go holy shit all the shit? Because if you did, they didn't do that and it was a full crowd. So who are you doing that spot for? And again, I'm just saying what he said.
I thought it was a really interesting point. Yeah it is. It's not really something I've considered before. But I do think that it is interesting.
Is that your stomach? Oh my god, you're starving. I've only had a little sober part on a few Pringles. Do you need some more Pringles to be at a bay?
No, I'm all right. I'm all right. We'll fly through this now. Because you know how long these podcasts go?
Yeah, I'm fine. They just make the hot dogs even better. But yeah, so I said a couple of weeks ago when Moxie started turning up on these shows and getting involved with it Cage. I was like, okay, he obviously started.
That was where he started. He was doing the deathmatch shit. He's obviously very comfortable with the sight of his own blood and he likes that kind of shit. However, now it's a different story.
Now he's XD number. Now he's was the AW champion. He's got a really high spot on that card even still. Why are you doing it?
What possible reason could there be? Because GCW aren't going to pay you that much money. Because they've got a couple of hundred fans there. They're not going to pay you like 50 grand per show, which would make mutilating yourself worth it.
Now, does that make him cooler in the eyes of fans? Maybe. Don't make him cooler in my eyes. Makes him dumb.
Because Nick Cage is different guys. He's always done that. And he did that dark side of the ring on him. Oh, okay.
So I'm sure... I've not seen that one. No, I've not seen it either. But like I saw the Happy Birthday to Alveres that I did, talking about people that have been killed and people that are imprisoned.
So I think he's had a bit of a rough vibe. But that's a very ignorant point because I don't know. I've only noticed this guy in the last month. How old is he?
I think he's maybe in his 40s, maybe his dad. But that's his deal. Every single time I've seen a shot of Nick Cage, he's been covered in his own blood. All his arms have been caught up.
All his face has been caught. All his face has been caught up. It's just the way it is for him. Now because he does that, that's his main income.
Vauxley's must have a million dollar contract with AW. So what is the reason why you're going to do in Blood Sports? What are the reasons why you're going to do GCW? And he said himself about Blood Sports.
He's not said about GCW, but Blood Sports. He said that was my kind of thing. Yeah. And they've both covered in blood, him and Josh Barnet.
To do it themselves. Yeah. He's doing it for himself. It feels like that's something that he wants to do.
But why? Because there has to be a cut off between wanting to do it for respect to those guys and getting that death match mantra back, which I'm sure he's dying for. But now he's got a wife and a kid on the way. I think though that the issue of that is, I share it with you I think.
Our own discomfort, I think it's like projecting it onto them because it's something they genuinely, legitimately enjoy to do, which I don't get. When you've got everything you can possibly want, you're like loads of money, you've got someone at home and all that shit. I don't get it. But if it's something that they want to do, I just clearly none of that matters.
Definitely. Clearly nothing matters because they actually actively enjoy it. And Moxley is a prime example. Like you said, he'll learn shit loads of money in WWE.
He'll learn shit loads of money in WWE. He's doing, he doesn't have to do that. His livelihood, his wife earns money. His wife's podcast will earn her money.
And she, when she has her child and goes back to work, she'll earn a shit load of money. So it's like they don't need money. He's not doing it to feed his family. He won't get paid lots of do blood sports stuff.
He's purely doing it out of passion. And I think that's very hard for people like us to understand because it's not something that whenever I kind of had the fantasy of myself being a wrestler, you've never tried it, you did, but it's not something I ever wanted to myself. I never, you know, in my fantasies about being a wrestler, I've never bleed in hours. I've never like bladed myself or, you know, landing on fun-tax.
I do think though that there is, like, if we go back to the Mac Cardona thing and potentially, I do think more people are going to start trying this sort of stuff. Because I think it's quite difficult. If you've always sort of shunned it, shunned it and shunned it a little bit. I think it's quite difficult to then watch, and I know I'm sounding sexist here, to see Brit Baker or thumbtacks pulled out of the back.
I think it's quite then difficult to look at yourself and go, okay, what? I need to do this. And I know that it shouldn't be the case where you see women do it and go, I actually fucking do this. But unfortunately, we know how that's how it works.
It's a very ego-driven industry. And for someone like our donor who hasn't got a spot anywhere, it's floating about, like really. So it's a bit like, okay, it's now or never, I'm going to fucking do this. They've done it.
I'm going to do this. You know, it's that I do think that the more women who start doing it, the more that side of it is going to grow. Because people will go, well, I can fucking do it. I've never brought, imagine being a wrestler who's got quite famous.
You've never bled in a match or you've never done anything. And you'll be thinking, shit, this actually, you know, fucking Moxley's doing it. He doesn't even need any money. He's doing it because he loves it.
And people respecting more for doing it. So it makes him like a badass in AEW and stuff. I want to be a fucking badass. I'm a badass.
So it's like, let me go and have my blood match here, which I think is Ryder's thing. And then maybe New Japan might want to work with me, not in a main event capacity, but maybe it might get their attention. Yeah. Maybe I'll get the attention of ROH.
Who's he wrestling with? He's with Impact. He's with Impact. He's like, I think that is in the minds of people of like, people see me as this person who has to come in as like this, you know, like good guy, you lose it.
And the heel thing isn't really working. Do you know what I mean? Like he's not really done an effective heel thing. And I'd love to see it.
I've seen the Long Island thing where instead of just the finger that he's bringing up his middle finger, it was great. And he was shouting fuck you. I love it. And it was great.
And I'm playing massively devil's advocate here. I am interested in that. I'm not a massive death match guy, but like ECWA used to love, but I've got older. I've kind of, I've kind of.
Well, you've seen some of these guys now. Yeah. And that's tough to watch. And that's the issue because I'm playing devil's advocate because you know, you'd never tell anybody what to do.
But it is interesting that because Moxley is the most interesting case with it. Mac Card owner is it because like you said, you know, he's floating around. He knows full well what would get him the most attention from rest, internet wrestling funds. And it is if he goes against probably the craziest bastard that he's knocking about at the moment.
You know, he's very smart in that way. And I'm sure he'll be getting a payday that will reflect the fact that he's putting himself in danger. But from the Moxley side, it's obviously it's a passion project. And he knows all these guys.
And he's very happy to do that kind of thing. It's just interesting that he is still wanting to do that. And you can't question the guy who's passion for it because that's the only reason. The only reason why Moxley would do that.
And he's not yet. He's just turned up on shows and stuff. But there's a difference because Moxley turned up on that show and got cheering out of the building. Even though their champion is a face in their thumbs eyes.
He's got a chair that he's been just riding doing the Moxley move. Made the crowd pop big time. And then he rips the mask off and it's Zack Ryder. It's a good heel move.
It was brilliant. It was brilliant. But what I don't want to happen is Cardone to go into that and do something to himself where he's irreparably damaged. I know he won't.
I know he can. He's a bit more dangerous style matches. Will it help his career? I don't know.
I don't know if he will do it. I think it's a bit. If you're a wrestler who legitimately adores wrestling because some wrestlers are happy to do the paycheck thing and sit and get in all that shit with her and all that. Lots of people who know who those guys are.
No one really likes to name them. But I like to have a list of names. But we don't know as well with someone like Moxley who quite clearly loves wrestling. The hangover of being in WWE for so long when really that should be where you go to go out to pasture.
And I'm not saying he's better at his years. He's not using his early to mid 30s. He's a young guy. But they got his 20s.
And he got to do very little in terms of content. And that might play on people's minds. If you're in WWE and you're a very passionate wrestler, you may get into your 30s and go, what the fuck? I should have retired there.
I should have done all that in my shit when I was that young guy. I didn't have a partner and all that crap. And then I should have built a name for myself. I've got signed on a massive contract to WWE like AJ Styles did.
And then had really easy wrestling. But instead you do it back to front and you have to come out with your 20s and you're in your 30s when you leave. What the fuck did I? Why did I stay there that long?
The money was fantastic. But as a wrestling fan, as a wrestler, I completely wasted my time. So there is a bit of plain catch up I think for people. And I don't get the impression.
Well, I do get the impression from Cardona. He's a wrestling fan. That's how we got into it. He's a fucking huge fan of it.
