from Shining With ADHD by The Childhood Collective · host The Childhood Collective
Heading back to school can bring up all the feelings. Maybe you feel relieved to get back to a more consistent schedule… and at the same time, you may be nervous about your child having a new teacher. One of the most challenging aspects of ADHD parenting is wondering, “how can I help my child at school when I’m not with them during the school day?”. In this episode, we are chatting about our favorite ways to communicate with your child’s teacher and educational team, so you can help your child with ADHD start the new school year on the right foot. MEET OUR TEAMWe are Lori, Mallory, and Katie. Lori and Mallory are child psychologists, and Katie is a speech language pathologist. We’ve spent decades supporting thousands of families navigating ADHD. And we’re also moms: some of us raising kids with ADHD and some of us navigating it ourselves… which means we understand both the science and the real-life moments that don’t make it into textbooks.LINKS + RESOURCESEpisode #120: Ready, Set, School: Tips for a Stress-Free Back to School Transition Episode #141: Should I Tell My Child's Teacher About Their ADHD?Understanding IEPs and 504 Plans BlogShining at School CourseSchool Accommodations GuideEpisode #161 TranscriptHave a question or want to share some thoughts?
