161: Kurt Wallach - A Holocaust Survivor and WWII Vet Speaks

from It's All About the Questions · host Laura Steward

Holocaust deniers are out there but the facts remain, it did happen. 13 million people were killed and tortured by the Nazis because of their faith or background. 6 million of them were Jewish. My guest today escaped with his parents and siblings but 200 of the rest of his family perished in the extermination camps. He escaped at 11 and at 17 enlisted and served in the U.S. Navy in Okinawa in the WWII Pacific Theater. He has spent his adult life writing and speaking about the Holocaust in addition to his daytime job. He has written numerous books about the Holocaust and helped found the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, DC. This is not my normal interview but it is one of the most important ones. It is important to never forgot so we can prevent those events from happening again. Kurt Wallach is the Founder, Owner, President, and Chief Executive Officer of Kurtell Growth Industries.  He escaped Germany at the age of 11 and he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He has written two books on the Holocaust and regularly speaks about his experience escaping from Nazi Germany and the horrors of the Holocaust. He is married to Marilyn (nee Oakes) and resides in Vero Beach with his son Mark.  He has two daughters by a previous marriage.  Mr. Wallach is a major contributor to the Holocaust Museum in Washington D.C. and is determined to make sure the world does not forget.
