Conversation 161:  The Story, Journey and Passion of Laura Koch, MS, RD, LMNT “One of the hardest things I was told when I started my job was our patients are not going to get better. They are either going to die or their are going to get a transplant. That was one thing that was a bit hard to come to grips with. I think for me, being able to help people maintain a good quality of life for the time they do have and managing this really difficult disease is really rewarding.” Laura Koch, MS, RD, LMNT Today’s conversation is with Laura Koch,  a registered dietitian who found dietetics as a second career and has discovered a passion for renal nutrition.    Laura and I connected this spring at the Nebraska Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics annual meeting and I am very glad she introduced herself. Her story starts out with going to college without a clear outline of what her passion was and working in an entirely different field of insurance. Along the way, she realized she had an interest in nutrition, pursued her degree and is now working for a dialysis clinic.
