De medewerkers van de afdeling Spoedeisende Hulp van het UMC Utrecht krijgen te maken met de zwaarste ongevallen uit de regio. Om ook hen bij te staan, is in het ziekenhuis een geestelijk verzorger aangesteld, speciaal voor het personeel. Niet alle medewerkers zien het nut hiervan in: niet lullen maar poetsen, is bij sommigen de mentaliteit. Inge ter Schure mocht een paar weken meekijken achter de schermen, om te zien hoe personeel omgaat met heftige gevallen en in hoeverre geestelijk verzorger Vicky uitval van medewerkers kan voorkomen.
