162: Vanished at Grand Canyon-Parashant National Monument

On the first afternoon of a nine-day backpacking trip through one of the most remote areas of the Grand Canyon, three experienced hikers encountered a relatively ordinary obstacle: a hill standing between them and their intended route. Two members of the group climbed up and over it, while the third decided to follow the hillside around. They agreed to meet on the other side, but when the first two hikers arrived, their longtime friend was nowhere to be found.
