164: Bay To Birdwood and Beyond

The Bay To Birdwood and Beyond is a fitting title for a show all about the motor car and our roads. The motor car is one of those things many of us have a love/hate relationship with. There are times we love their convenience and power and the freedom they symbolise. At other times we hate the pollution, the traffic congestion and those hot days as we scald ourselves on seatbelt buckles. But no matter your position, one thing is very true: The car is entwined deeply in all our lives, forging the black latticework of asphalt that our towns and houses are wedged between, to the rite of passage many of us strive for, of getting our driver's licence. Our national motor museum is in Birdwood and tonight, to help us take a few stories for a spin, we have the director of the Naitonal Motor Museum, Paul Rees, and chair of the Bay To Birdwood, Michael Neale.
