164: How To Make Failure Your Friend: Become A Growth-Oriented Person, Part 3
from Lawyer Lifestyle Podcast - Marketing, Leadership, Sales · host Dave Scriven-Young - Attorney
Chicago attorney Dave Scriven-Young on leadership: The third step for attorneys to become growth-oriented persons is to make failure your friend. We must understand that a high percentage of potential clients have no interest in working with us. We must take enough action to get in front of the people who are interested in working with us. But failure can prevent us from taking action if we let it. As John Maxwell says in his book, Leadershift, we can make failure our friend by: learning from every failure, realizing that we must be willing to do something afraid because eventually we will become qualified to do it, and understanding that action reduces fear and increases courage. In the words of John Maxwell: "I would rather try something bigger than my capabilities with high odds of failure than attempt something smaller that I know I could achieve."
