#165 10-minute JAPANESE A Starter Pack-

from jENI NO PIKA PIKA NIHONGO 日本語

Hello. Welcome to Jenni's shiny Japanese. In Tokyo, the cherry blossoms are in full bloom, but perhaps due to Corona, we don't hear as many people enjoying the blossoms as we used to, which makes me a little sad. If you can't enjoy Hanami in Covid, I recommend you to see Ume (Japanese apricots) which I introduced the other day. During the ume season, ume festivals are held in many places, but since they bloom in the cold season, people often just enjoy the beauty of the flowers rather than sitting under them and drinking sake. This time, I found a photo of beautifully illuminated weeping ume trees on the Internet, and upon further research, found out that they were illuminated at night in Suzuka-no-mori Garden. Suzuka-no-mori Garden is a research and cultivation farm that aims to preserve and promote the "tailoring technique" of weeping ume, one of Japan's traditional horticultural cultures, and has about 200 famous trees, mainly "Kureha shidare" (weeping plum), which have been passed down through the generations with the skill and history of a master gardener, and are open to the public every year in time of blooming. Unfortunately, this year's event ended on the 25th, but how about looking forward to next year? Well, today's episode is a Japanese exercise. Please enjoy this one as well.
