#165 – The Proposal

from Movie Go Round

You Did This to Us again here at Movie-Go-Round, so we had to watch the Sandra Bullock-Ryan Reynolds rom-com The Proposal. Neither Nicole, David, nor guest Phil Rood had seen this film in its entirety before, which was not a lack that any of us had perceived as a problem previously. Among other topics, we discuss the dearth of character development, the whitest town in Alaska, the use of puppies as currency with the local raptor population, and why you never start the shower without a towel in your hand. Next episode starts a new go-round, and Brett's choice for New to Two is Joel Coen's The Tragedy of Macbeth. Email the show at [email protected]. Find us online by heading over to mgrpodcast.com. Help shape the show by voting during You Did This to Us polls every 5 weeks on youdidthistous.com and social media! Movie-Go-Round is hosted by Nicole Davis, David Luzader, and Brett Stewart. The show is edited by Brett Stewart and Nicole Davis. Our theme, "The Show Must Be Go," is by Kevin MacLeod and is used under license to Tilting Windmill Studios. Movie-Go-Round is hosted on Pinecast.

Song Against Songs, The by G. K. Chesterton (1874 - 1936) LibriVox LibriVox volunteers bring you 9 recordings of The Song Against Songs by G. K. Chesterton. This was the Fortnightly Poetry project for October 16, 2011. Chesterton was a large man, standing 6 feet 4 inches (1.93 m) and weighing around 21 stone (130 kg; 290 lb). His girth gave rise to a famous anecdote. During World War I a lady in London asked why he was not 'out at the Front'; he replied, 'If you go round to the side, you will see that I am.' On another occasion he remarked to his friend George Bernard Shaw: "To look at you, anyone would think a famine had struck England". Shaw retorted, "To look at you, anyone would think you have caused it". P. G. Wodehouse once described a very loud crash as "a sound like Chesterton falling onto a sheet of tin."( Summary from Wikipedia )
