165. Who’s Protecting Your Civil Rights & Liberties: NAACP LDF’s Fight for Democracy & Justice

In this critical episode, Angela Reddock-Wright speaks with attorneys Todd Cox and Sam Spital, Associate Director Counsels at the NAACP Legal Defense Fund (LDF). With civil rights, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) policies, and other long-standing legal protections under attack under the current presidential administration, the LDF is leading the charge against rollbacks in civil rights, education, voting rights,  racial justice and other protections.Todd and Sam discuss the Supreme Court’s shift on racial justice issues, the threats to public education and DEI programs, and the rise of anti-truth policies that restrict the teaching of Black and other diverse histories in schools. They also break down ongoing lawsuits in South Carolina and Alabama that challenge new laws aimed at erasing racial justice initiatives from schools and workplaces.  The 2025 political climate has sparked an unprecedented rollback of civil rights protections.
