168: Lindsay Clancy, Joan of Arc, and the Voices that Tell Us To Kill (2)

from CAM podcast · host Ellen

In the first video (Episode 166), Ellen compared Joan of Arc to Lindsay Clancy and asked the question: If Joan of Arc and Lindsay Clancy each heard voices that told her to kill, why was Joan of Arc right to follow them and Lindsay Clancy was wrong? Furthermore, how do you know if you hear a voice that tells you to kill whether it is from God? Many viewers on YouTube fiercely objected to the mere comparison, so in the next episode (167), Fr. McCarthy joined us to answer some of the common (and thoughtful) objections voiced by those who seriously took offense at the comparison. In Part I (Episode 167), we tried to remove mental barriers so that we could get back to the main question: How do you know if you hear a voice that tells you to kill whether it is from God? We address that question here in Part II, and respond to those who ventured answers to the question in the comments of the YouTube video.See Part I: ANSWERING OBJECTIONS here:https://youtu.be/c0oN3Rd_6cE?si=PpcuJh5JogCitWnPPART II: RESPONDING TO THE ANSWERS TO THE QUESTION "How do you know if a voice is from God?"0:00 picking up where we left off in Part 1 (Episode 167)1:48 Answer #1: "The voice was from God because Joan said they were saints." 11:30 Answer #2: "What about the Crusades?" 18:32 "It might be a voice from God if the voice is telling you to fight a defensive war." 19:47: Literacy, Education, and the Bible28:42 Poor Joan of Arc----31:07 Primacy of Conscience33:44 Poor Lindsay Clancy----35:34 The State----37:36 Guilt, Evil, Sin, and Accountability ----41:15 Church vs. StatePlease help keep this podcast going!Buy your "Infallible Jesus" t-shirt here: https://catholics-against-militarism.checkoutstores.com/Become a CAM supporter for $3, $5, or $10 a month. https://www.buzzsprout.com/296171/supportMake a one-time gift to Ellen at Venmo:Ellen-FinniganFind CAM here:  https://catholicsagainstmilitarism.comRSS feed: http://www.buzzsprout.com/296171Rumble: https://rumble.com/c/CAMpodcastFind Fr.
