Baptism is immersion in water in the name of the Trinity, as a sign of union with Christ, cleansing from sin, and dedication to God. It is only for those who profess faith in Christ and obedience to him.Chapter 30: Of the Lord’s Supper. The Lord’s Supper is bread and wine received by the church as a memorial of Christ’s death, a confirmation of their faith and participation in him, and a bond of love and fellowship among the saints. It is only for those who are in a right state of mind and heart, and who examine themselves before partaking. It is not a sacrifice, nor does it confer any grace by the mere act of receiving it. The elements remain unchanged in their substance, and are not to be adored or worshipped.1689 Baptist Confession of Faith in Modern English - Founders Ministries
