Thursday, August 22 is a historic day for America's commitment, to its democracy and its promise of equality for all its citizens, regardless of race,, creed, color or gender. —— This day is historic in that on the evening of 22 August, vice president Kamala Harris, a biracial person , a woman of south east Asian and Jamaican descent, will accept the Democratic nomination for president of the United States of America. T Former president Donald J Trump, the Republican nominee for president, opined while being interviewed at the recent National Association of Black journalist convention in Chicago, that Harris "happened to turn black" just a few years ago. His comments sparked disbelief and outrage, for the audience of black reporters, editors, photographers, news Directors and others. —— In the first hour of this 169th episode of Tangazo, I am joined in studio by Retired journalist LS Lockhart, and for the purpose of this discussion, the mother of biracial children. She will lead a discussion on identity with people who are of more than one race or ethnicity, where we hope to learn how they navigate having more than one culture. ——— Our guests for this discussion are Shanti Parikh , a professor of Anthropology at Washington University, who has both black and Indian parents and Robert Williams, who was also in the audience of black journalist, when Mr. Trump made his malicious comments regarding VP Harris's ethnic background. ——— Mr. Williams a consultant at interlace health, is also a product of biracial parents. ——— In the second hour of Tangazo, I'm joined in studio by Michael Wesley Jones, former senior policy advisor to former St. Louis county executive Charlie Dooley and former chief of staff for former St. Louis mayor Clarence Harmon, also political consultant Tim Person and progressive activist Reverend Darryl Gregory Gray. ——— We will offer an analysis, on the historic significance of vice president Harris's nomination , for president and the challenges she faces, in her efforts to become the nations first female president. ———
