17. Loss, Identity, and Leadership with William Igbokwe

from Wild River · host Sam Pfotenhauer

In this episode, I interview my friend William Igbokwe to explore the aspects of his identity. Will is a lawyer, an actor, a son, a caregiver, a man, and a brother, among many other roles. He is one of the most embodied people I know and lives with intention and purpose. I love talking with him and I received a lot from this episode. We talk about: Growing up in small-town Texas as the son of Nigerian immigrants Transitioning from a career in law to a career in acting Claiming the title of “actor” and creative Getting comfortable with and celebrating failure Losing both parents before turning 30 years old Navigating resentment that accompanies new responsibilities Gender norms and the relationship with masculinity Owning all parts of your identity Despite significant hardship at a young age, or perhaps because of it, Will prioritizes joy, expression, and living purposefully. He is a beautiful example of an empowered man living with intention. If you listen to this episode, let us know! Drop Will or myself a note on Instagram.
