He has served for twenty-seven years as a scientific advisor, physician, researcher, and author. He is residency trained in aerospace and preventive medicine, and he has a Masters in epidemiology with a genetics concentration from Johns Hopkins. He served for 17 years as an Air Force physician and Senior Flight Surgeon (750hr in 36 aircraft; call sign "Genes") with numerous operational deployments focused on aeromedical evacuation.
