Use offer code EmpireFor10% off your website or domain. Hello, welcome to another episode of Somewhere Between, Somewhere Between a Film and TV podcast. We're your hosts. I am Daniel Para.
And I'm everyone's right home. Bro's just saying, somewhere I know. How you doing everyone? I'm kind of nervous right now.
Where are you nervous? I don't know. What's the thing that Jim Carrey says in The Grinch? You know he's in Don FM.
Oh, what are you talking about? The Weekend. The Weekend album. Oh, yes.
Yeah, he's the... Oh, Don FM. I was like, Don. I was just like, I first was talking about a character in The Grinch.
Like the movie Grinch. Grinch. No, no, no, no. Who?
Ask. Don. Don. D-A-W-N-F-M.
Turn with the album, right? Yeah. But you're talking about the Don character from The Grinch. There is one.
Why are you talking like there is one? Because you just said that there is. No, I got it. And every single thing you say at face value.
Yo, what? I believe everything you say. Oh, really? Yeah.
Well, I'm... I'm the dad, to be honest, baby. Maybe I don't believe everything you say. No, no, no.
Trust me, guys. There's no photos or nothing. Right? Not even messages.
But we're together. Everyone's not ASAP Rocky. He's as soon as possible Rocky. He's talking about...
What are we talking about? We're talking about... So, there's not much in the way of movies for the next week until Moonfall. The biggest movie of the year comes out February 4th.
We're not advertising this. I don't want to advertise this movie. We're reviewing Moonfall. Oh, no.
Or... Actually, I didn't want to see the new Jackass. So, maybe we'll review that. I want to see it.
See it. Jackass? Oh, yeah. I don't know.
You know, I like them. I didn't like that one about the... The Grandma? Not the Zac Efron one.
The other one. The Dirty Grandpa. No, it's a bad grandpa. No, it's bad grandpa.
Yeah, I didn't like it. But I liked the show growing up and I liked... There was a show. Yeah, there's a Jackass show.
It's on MTV. Yeah. Because I grew up with that in Rob Eardick. Rob and Big.
He's a phantom. I don't know why. Danny Phantom? Yeah.
I grew up with that too. Yeah, me too. You like Sam? I don't know.
Are you trying to get Joker now? No. That's her name, right? Sam from Danny Phantom.
I don't remember. Why do you remember? Why don't you remember? Wait.
So, we're finally talking about Euphoria season one and the specials and Euphoria season two. Because you know, it'd be kind of difficult to review just season one because we've seen up to a point in the story's progress since that. And we also want to talk about the specials. But first, we're going to get into just David Fincher's filmography in general, mostly because, well, we've mentioned him on the show before and I'd like to say if I were to put him in top directors, I think, like, top three, top five.
Like, for sure. Yeah, top five. This is director filmography. I would never, ever try to rank because you and I have talked about this before.
We're like, have you ever gone in your head? Oh, Gone Girl or the social network. And you're just like... I don't know how it will say.
It really depends on what you want. Or like, it'll have a poll that you, I don't know if you follow any of those like Instagram accounts that like have movies and stuff. Oh, yes. It'll have polls that'll be like the social network or seven or seven in Zodiac.
I don't know. I'm just gonna... I can tell you what I think is worse movies are. I think it's Alien 3 and Mank.
I haven't seen Mank. I really like Mank. I just didn't think it was anything. Is that the one with Gary Woven?
Yeah. The one about Citizen Kane. Okay. I guess we'll get into film bro movies in a second.
The guy who's made a few. Yeah. What does that mean? Real Kino file.
Real Cinephile. Oh, Cinephile. I don't want to sit up. I don't want to find this.
He's a master. Also, I guess it's worth bringing up since Fight Club is part of this. Did you see the thing about China? China.
If you heard about China. I'm trying to exist. I thought you said I'm trying to figure it out. Oh, that's good.
That's what I thought. Whatever. Thank you. You said it.
Oh, how did you say ending? I just remember. I just changed it. Yeah, because it was that thing from a liquorice pizza.
It's like at the end and they're both 30. I guess there's a bigger argument to be had about censorship and stuff. But I think the way it ends is kind of hilarious. Where does it end?
In the movie? Yeah. I remember just ending where them blowing up a bunch of buildings just send a message and everything. Yeah, but it doesn't happen.
It doesn't happen. It doesn't happen. It doesn't happen. It doesn't happen.
It doesn't happen. It's like somehow Palpatine has returned. Somehow Palpatine has returned. Yo, what?
I got to go into Fortnite to figure out the fight club. No, you're totally out to play Fortnite. But you just finished watching what the Girl at the Dragon Tattoo? Yes.
Guys, I can confirm she does have a Dragon Tattoo. It's been a while since I've seen it, but I remember loving it a lot. I remember really loving Daniel Craig and is it Runemar? Yes.
And forever being sad that there has never been a second one. I guess there has been, but you know, it's not like an actual sequel. But what do you think of it? I loved it virtually.
I always loved the way David Fincher just frames his movies. You know? Sorry. Hey, can you like not look at me like that?
Thanks. I'm listening to you. Okay. I'm trying to think.
I don't know what I was going to say. I didn't know what his name was. What are the scars? Scars?
Just going to be in it. Is it the, which one? Is it Bill or is it the other one? Which one is Bill?
Bill's Pennywise. No. Oh, it's a monkey man? Monkey man.
No, that's Alex. Yeah. Oh, it's the, uh, it's the other one? Yeah.
Oh, Stella. Yes. Stolen Scarsgard. You know, this is like a third time we've done this one.
No. There's too many of them. Yeah, last time you were like, oh, if you loved Dune so much, which Scarsgard was in it. I was like, I went through all three before I was like, that's who it is.
Oh, man. Um, I love that. I love him. Was it Robin Wright was in it.
I was like, oh, oh, oh, yeah, she's in that. Oh, you know, I just remember, I don't know why that a damn adventure directed house of cards, the first, the first, the first episode, right? I think so. The first two.
There's a thing with shows that people have explained that sometimes the workplace health benefits support moments of care that count, like finding relief from chronic pain or getting the prescription you rely on adding up to a stronger health system for all of us. Learn more at clah.ca slash multiplying care. Get big names to direct the pilot episode or something because, you know, it brings credibility to the show. Oh, yeah.
Robert Rodriguez. We'll get into a boat with that whenever that ends. But like I've told you, I've been watching succession lately. I'm almost caught up.
It's phenomenal. And the executive producers on it are Will Ferrell and Adam McKay and Adam McKay directs the first episode. I've heard, I guess to clarify right now, I've heard incredible phenomenal things about Mind Hunter. I have not seen it.
Oh, Mind Hunter. Yeah. The David Tinter show that he's like heavily involved. I saw the first couple of us.
I don't remember that. Okay. I haven't like, continued it or anything, but it gives me like that zodiac vibe a lot. The whole detective.
The only reason why I'm hesitant to start it is because I heard that it got not canceled necessarily, but it's been years since the last season. And David Fincher said nothing about it. And that it ends on like a huge cliffhanger. Like although I wouldn't I wouldn't put it past Netflix that canceled things I love.
Like I mean, American Vandals, one of their best shows and whatever. Glow. I mean, but I do remember looking beautiful, like just being a phenomenal looking movie. Oh, yeah.
And then I guess what was the thing about it where people said it was similar because it was a remake. Yeah. So yeah, the very first one, right? You're talking about the original trilogy?
Yes. So it's based off a trilogy, like a books. Okay. And I've never read any of them.
So I can't say much about this, but there's an original I want to say Swedish adaptation of movies and people really like them. If I've heard that they're worth seeking out and that the that it's really unfortunate that David Fincher never got to make a trilogy of this. And you know, I would say maybe someday, but there is a sequel to this with Claire Foy and it's called the girl in the spider web or something. Wait, is that a Rex sequel?
I think so. Oh, and I've heard it's not that great. So they kind of botched that. So there's no chance that happening.
I don't think. Oh, I guess I was going to ask like product placement. Oh, yeah. I the many times I saw like a happy meal in the girl with a dragon tattoo.
I don't know. I just saw that a bunch of times and they reminded me of the Starbucks drink in by club. Oh, oh, right. Yeah.
This product placement ever worked on you know, I know. Right now I'm going to go to McDonald's right now and buy half the old. Well, you're not you reminded me that they have the thing that we're talking about that McDonald's uploaded like their secret menu stuff. Oh, yeah.
You know what made me mad about it? I downloaded the app because I was like, I have a cheap meal a week right now and I was going to do it. I was going to order one later on in the week. You know what you have to do?
So basically you go in the app, you download it. That's fine, whatever, but you have to build it yourself. Like what it is is it's the things that they sell. So for example, one of them is the land air and sea, which has the three different patties on it and they package all this stuff for you, but you have to take it out of the burger or whatever and then put it on top of each other.
And I was like, that's lame. Like what can't they make it for you? But I mean, you know, best food workers are underpaid. So maybe it's fine.
No, this food is disgusting and gross. I don't support it. Oh, yeah. Well, McDonald's.
Hashtag cancel McDonald's except for their fries. I don't hate McDonald's, but the fries are the best. Aren't you like a burger king person? I am a burger king person.
Why? I don't know. I just prefer their burgers compared to necessary burgers, but like the other things like chicken fingers and I don't know. I'm trying to think so many but it's been.
Oh, yeah, because you're the type of person that would walk into a. I don't know. Don't do this. Don't do this.
Tell me if you're ever like, hey, let's go get a burger. You walk in and you're like, you know what sounds really good right now? A chicken sandwich. I don't know why.
I just I was with four guys and still was doing. I mean, I was going to say whatever, but I do not like that place. So I mean, I would be like, can we go anywhere else? I actually like whatever.
You go there. You do. What if you want to take for the family? Yeah, I'm going to hamburger.
I told you I would do that one time. But that's exactly my logic or your logic toward like the way I. Your logic. The rapper?
The rapper, yes. I hate logic. He's fine. He's just he makes really goofy music.
I don't know. I prefer lonely island. Guys, this is an ever lonely island. I do love lonely island, but they make comedy music.
Logic doesn't. I love. What do you okay? So there's kind of.
We can I? What girl did you actually say? Yeah. Yeah.
I mean, I think officially at this point we can go full spoilers for everything we ever do because we haven't done a not spoiler thing in like forever. The history has been a while. I guess I don't know. Whatever we talk about you for you, right?
Right. Yeah. But like there was this there were two scenes that it was just like rape like rape scenes. Oh, very intense like sexual scenes and just like it really captures that whole like cringy and like you feel disgusted type of thing.
Yeah, right. There's a so preface on that. It's really like heavy topic and some of the stuff that like we'll talk about will deal with that. That I remember that movie capturing a very kind of like I don't know really angry really raw feeling in that movie.
But he's always handled content like this like it's very aggressive and in your face and I'm not saying that it's like a negative or anything. But you do have to understand that like that is what you're watching because I know sometimes people say like this need to be here but if it's part of the story then I'm not sure like what I can say, you know, but I mean, I'd ask you do you think it's like an upper echelon of the adventure movies or do you think it's like kind of in the well, let's stop the movies because I'm trying to think so we got social network seven, con girl, I think, by club or some other ones. I'm like like a curious case of a Benjamin Button. Yes, but it.
Oh, yeah. Say that again. But it but it but it but I just keep saying but oh, yes, case of Benjamin, but curious. Okay, so much for me personally, the like end all the all of his movies are social network seven zodiac fight club, gone girl.
Oh, fuck. Did you see the game? I did not. I love the game.
I won't say anything about it because I would want to ruin anything in that movie but it's incredible. Don't tell me if Michael Douglas is in the movie. I was like, oh, you know what? You know, okay, let me talk about something but people try to hide spoilers, right?
So I guess like, for example, like we say we're movie guys and like we watch much of a. Yeah, we don't have a tattoo. No, no, no, I don't. It's what's called this year.
Don't beat me. I think so, right? I don't believe that. I don't know.
Okay, but when other people who don't watch you know, as much like movies or shows as we do, when they talk when they try to like hold in the spoilers from that movie that we're trying to watch or something, you know, or like you know, from a show and so like right now I'm watching, you know, I'm watching pinky blinders, right? Yeah. And so like one of my roommates, he's like, it's funny because he loves that show. But so he'll know you won't spoiler anything.
Right? But like it's just funny because he likes to hear like my roommate and I talk about it as well. Just talk about like, oh, what's going to happen in this and that, right? You know, like that's like that's fun.
I do like just guessing like, oh, this is what's going to happen or this and that, right? And well, he just like sits back and just listens and he like he finds amusement from that, which I get though. I feel like I know I get that too. Cause like I was just talking about a friend with demon about demon slayer.
Yeah. Cause I'm not caught up on it. I won't say anything until we review it, but he was asking like someone else was like, what do you think will happen at this point? Yeah.
He's read the whole thing because it's finished. Yeah. And I have a roommate, our friend Dakota, who is very guilty of like, oh, you're going to love this episode. I won't say anything, but you're going to love it.
Dude, I hate that. I hate when people emphasize like certain like characters or just like certain episodes for sure. Cause you're like, oh, you're going to love it at this part. And you're like, don't because then I'm like anticipating for that part to happen.
Like I understand what like where that's coming from. Yeah. But I'm also like, look, I don't know if I consider that a spoiler, but I don't like the idea that you're making me anticipate my feelings towards this episode. Yes.
Cause you'll be like, oh, this, I've heard the like, oh my God, this next scene is so sad. That's so funny. No, my favorite thing is whenever we would say something. My favorite thing is whenever, um, I say the opposite, like something opposite is going to happen instead.
It's like, oh, this character is going to die. It doesn't die for the next fucking five seasons. Or at least let me character. I don't know man.
Is he the main character? I got this one anything, but this character dies. And you're like, this is the main character. The main character character.
We're literally season three and there's like eight seasons. What do you mean? Not to ruin anything, but Walter White. He gets bald.
He gets bald. That's the point of the show. This is Tagline. Walter White goes bald.
I don't think you and I watch the same thinking bad. I think that the message that shows that all bald people are evil. Yes. I have been peddling that from once.
Something that like, actually we make fun of this all time. Breaking bad. We're like breaking off is a record. I don't know.
El Camino breaks box office records bad. Oh, and it's bad. Oh, yeah. There was a whenever.
Okay. Preface, I liked glass. I liked glass a lot actually. Me too.
Not the real stuff. I'm kind of like. I'm just like looking at windows. Wow.
What are you talking about? Look at my screen. Someone, you know how much windows cost? It cost like $50,000 sometimes.
None the same. No, why would I care? I'm not a fan of it. I'm not a fan of it.
I don't know. If you want to get into the market of glass, you got to know. It gets pretty bad. No, I wanted to, we make fun of this all the time.
We both can say about ourselves. I think we've reclaimed that we love movies. We have a show where we talk about it. But this is news.
Me being self aware right now. Yeah. But what that entails is the whole film bro thing where there's a list of movies out there in the world that if you're like, yeah, I watch movies, you know what it is when you say that. They're immediately going to ask you about Quentin Tino.
They're going to ask you about Fight Club Avatar for some reason. And that's usually it. And yes, Fight Club is one of them. But also played around in 2049.
Drive is up there now. So is like. I love those movies. American Psycho.
And I'm like, yes, all of those would go on a list of like my favorite movies ever. Woof-woof-woof-woof. Oh, of course. But it's a rampant.
It's everywhere now. And I'm like, where is this coming from? It's just weird though because you hear that no country for old men. And you're like, this is like a starter pack of, you know, getting into movies.
Oh, did you see the thing I sent you with a letterbox? Oh, yeah. I heard your laugh. It was so predictable.
So before I watched the movie, I read the whole entire plot. You heard me complain about people reading Wikipedia pages instead of watching the movie. You know what I'm gonna predict? Well, twist seven.
You're in the entire plot. I'm on Wikipedia. Sorry guys. After watching Guardians of the Galaxy for the four time, it's pretty predictable.
Yeah. I mean, okay. So nice. Like you know what's happening, right?
Or a fight club. There's something going on. There's two of them. There's two of them.
How would I know? No, just me. I read them. The moon.
What if it fell? Oh, dude. I'm advertising them. No.
Oh, I forgot to tell you. You know what their Instagram page is right now? No. There's I think it's hilarious.
They're uploading like what's scarier? The moon falling or getting pulled over? February 4th. February 4th.
No, I'm excited for it. Would you have sex with an ugly person or die? Would you have sex with the moon fall or die? I don't know.
I feel like I'd be allowed to be re-involved. Hey, you're considering it. The moon has craters. Doesn't mean you need to see your own.
Full impact. Deep impact. That's the name of something. I've never seen the thing called Deep Throat.
I know it exists. It's just a movie that's called Deep Throat. Like it doesn't. What type of movie now?
Not like, not one of those. No, I don't know. What were we talking about? What type of the dragon is that you bring?
No, I'm not talking about my club. No, I'm telling you. I want to get into that. Those are some of the best movies I can acknowledge.
It's funny. Have you ever heard the whole joker? Oh, Pulpixian. Pulpixian.
Anything but Quinter Encino. It's in that list. No, yeah. But it's a tricky balance of like, I don't know.
It's okay to love all those. We do. I think it's different when you put that as your persona. I think that's what it is.
I think that's the whole thing is because yes, there are people that joke about like, oh, I want to beat these characters from this so bad. I really hope that you're joking because that's... I mean, as a joker. This happened to everybody, Eric.
Like all the people that want to be Jordan Pelford. And I'm like, did you watch the movie? There we go. And that's why I like, this is a pretty good segue into my thoughts on euphoria before.
Like, do you want to say anything else about the girl with the dragon sense? You can rate it if you want. I would also give it like a nine out of ten. Like, I thought it was a green movie and all.
Is it a four and a half out of five? Oh, yeah. That's not a reading. That's not a reading.
That's not a reading. That's not a reading. Guys, I give it awesome tacky-ler. That's not us.
Oh, no. I just like to steal things from different platforms. I give it a... Fuck, I don't know any of them.
Not at the top of my head. I give it another watch. I don't know. We do need to figure something out like that because like, I don't know.
Star ratings hold a thing for me that... Yeah, no. I just want to say, I want to see it immediately. Is that good enough to say?
Yeah, that's some good stuff to say. Like, I'm rating. I guess we're going to figure out our own rating system. Yeah.
Well, we were trying to figure it out one time and I was like, I don't know. Bad. And it's bad. Good.
And it's good. Great. It was okay. That frustrates me.
Whenever you talk to people about movies and then they're like, what do you think of it? And they're like, yeah, it was good. It was good. That's all they had to say.
It's just hard because whenever it comes to us that we talk about like, either sections of the movie or like certain scenes that like stood out to us and then characters and like, how they interacted and all. That's how we talk about it. Well, I guess a lot of people just like to summarize it like how they fell out the very end. Which one we still do, but it's just more to do.
I also love to get into, you know, like actual film technique and stuff and things like that. Did you see the weight, the camera just zoomed in and out? Did you see the way that the actor acted? That's a, any, uh, award winning performance right there?
No, like, whenever you watch TikToks about euphoria and, you know, let's talk about this now. Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. I saw this one TikTok where a guy was like, did you know Wonder Woman 1984? Um, it's a sequel to the other Wonder Woman under an 83.
That was an 83. That was an 93. Oh, I thought you were going to say, did you know that Wonder Woman 1984 is the sequel to Wonder Woman? I mean, it is.
Even though it's a preview. It's not a prequel to Wonder Woman though. It's a prequel to like, I don't know what's happening with DC. What is it a prequel to?
What's canon? Is that canon? I don't know. I feel like people didn't love it enough that they might wreck on it.
I have no idea. Uh, it's like, oh, you didn't like our movie? Well, guess what? It never happened.
Yeah, we're just going to erase the timeline again. I didn't mind 1984 though. Like, I mean, I love the petrofescal in it. That's what I remember about it.
Uh, no, but I, we were talking about how, I just, I'd heard a ton about euphoria before we'd ever even considered watching it. What did you heard about it? Just like general, like people saying things. Um, I remember people talk about Zendaya a lot.
Of course, he's like the star, the star of the show. And, um, what else? Just drugs. Yeah.
It's like, I just heard it was like a great drug heavy. And it's just like, it's like a part of the show. And I didn't know like much else from it. I heard it was like, you know, the grassy, but I don't.
I wanted to ask you about that because I heard it, it's pitched as 824 to grassy. Like, when I first heard it. And you've seen the grassy and I can't say that I have. I've just seen, I've just seen scenes with Drake.
Oh, you just like, you just seen Drake being shot. I didn't see that part. I just saw him in the wheelchair. Um, no, it definitely, watching the show definitely reminded me of the grassy because even the grassy had, it's tried to tackle like themes.
That even deforia tackles now. Yeah. And it's just, it wasn't very explicit compared to how it is now. The one thing I could say about euphoria is it is incredibly explicit.
Uh, so going into this, what I'd heard is that, yeah, it's a 24. It's a high school show and Zendaya won an Emmy for it. And that I actually, believe it or not, I, I'd only heard people say that they watched it because something while even watching the show, full disclosure, love it. I love it like a lot, actually.
But watching it, I do wonder who the target audience is. Like, uh, cause I even read somebody talk about this. They were like, you know, I watch you for you. I'm not sure who it's for.
But they were like, my, they're like, I have, I don't know, 30 kids or something. And it was, that's going over a graduation. They said they like four or five kids. And they were like, but they're all 17 through 24 and they all watch it.
And I was like, I mean, mid 20s, you and I, uh, we watch it. Like, I mean, I don't, sometimes people watch things to relate to stuff. And this show is tackling, cause this is HBO. And like I said, I'm watching succession right now and HBO kind of has a, the marketplace on shows that are about terrible people doing terrible things.
And yet somehow making you be able to like, they make them appealing, they make them sympathetic. And I will say that like, I find that euphoria intentionally aggravating. Like a lot of characters make a lot of decisions and you're like, why? Why would you do that?
But then you remember their high schoolers and a lot of them are making reckless decisions. And, uh, before it, like what was your thought process on season one? Cause I know that you said that you were like, I'm not sure if I love it, but, uh, Yeah, like if anything from the first season alone, I, I liked it a lot. It's just, what was it?
I think, and it's like my problem now with the show, but like, but so far with like season two, whenever we get there, it's not much of a problem. But, but for the first season, I felt like it was very, it was like heavily on just like very explicit like sex scenes and drug scenes, you know, which, I mean, I understand to like, that's what I guess not a lot of audience members are going to admit, but that's what it appeals to them or not really appeals to them, but like just makes them want to keep watching. You know, it's like something like, it's like a car wreck. You know, it's like hard to look away from.
Yeah. And so when stuff like that happens on screen, you're just like, like, oh my gosh, like it's so, it's, it's hard to watch. Very cringy. And, and I mean, of course it's supposed to be like that cause of some scenes it makes your supposed to feel that way, but then also you're also like, wait a minute, they're in high school.
Yeah. I think this show is a tight balancing act of scenes that are like, this is going to be hard to elaborate on because I do find the show because like, you know how cringy is an actual word, but people use it differently than like how it's actually used. Oh, that's cringe. But um, How about the ages?
He just took a breath. But no, cringy is in the scene is intentionally difficult for you to stare at because you get like a secondhand embarrassment from it happening. Yes. Like all of, I told you before I was like episode four of season one of the show.
That mean it was that gave me anxiety. Yeah. And a 24, this is their market, the intentionally stressing you the fuck out type of content. And like, I think Zendaya is phenomenal in this role, not to get confused with the actual character of Ru and like, I'll have to say this a lot about the characters in the show.
Like a lot of these people, if you were to ever meet this person in real life, you wouldn't want to know them. Like, like Ru and season two and the special which we'll get into in a second. But I think the show is so masterfully directed. And like episode four is another prime example of that.
I'm like, this show has about 20 different things going on all the time. And I think it balances it insanely well. Like, yeah, I never felt like a scene in any episode felt useless. Like every scene with any other character trying to like describe what's going on didn't feel, it didn't feel like a dragged at all.
Like every character had their purpose and like kept driving like the story. Like for each character, because each character had like their own like storyline going on. Yeah. Which I love.
Which makes it where they just invested in their story even more when anything goes wrong. You know? You know, the best part of it to me is you know how like those are those certain movies where there are better examples of this. You know, like movies like Valentine's Day or New Year's where it's a bunch of different characters and their stories will intersect at a point.
But then they're also all doing their own thing. No, you know what? This reminds me of the Lego Star Wars trilogy. You four your minds, you have the Lego Star Wars trilogy.
I think it's a video coming out. That's all. Guys is an ad for the Lego Star Wars. I digged into ketamine.
What? You never heard that? Yo, that's a big two ketamine. Daniel makes it clear to every Star Wars fan.
Yeah, you know your books are kid anymore, but goes, you know, you know, is it the drugs? No, it could probably otherwise. I'll listen to the legends books that you know that doesn't mean you have a favorite character in the show. Like, okay, so I guess a lot of these characters are like massively unlikable.
Yes, I figure that out. Oh, Fez. Yeah. So, because he's the only one for me.
That has been very consistent. You know? Fez is my favorite character. Like as a person.
But my favorite story is still just Ruse. Like, I... Honestly, though, my favorite story right now is probably the stuff with Maddie and Nate. Oh, and season one or just in the show in general?
The show in general. Okay. Because every time I see Ruse story, it just, it makes me mad. Just because it's like, it's so obvious what all she has to do is just, you know, not take drugs.
And a lot of her life will just be better. But not just for her, but for the people around her. And so it's just like that one small thing that could just fix a lot. When it comes to like Maddie and Nate's relationship, like their relationship alone is starting to affect others as well.
Yeah. Not just in season one. Yeah, like everything in season one. And not like everything in season two as well so far.
We're just like, I don't know if we can spoil it or anything. We can spoil it. I mean, yeah, let's go ahead. Okay.
But like everything with like Cal, like Nate's dad, like everything that he's going on, like he's going through and take them with Cassie as well. I know before we get into that stuff, because I'm loving all this stuff from season two. I think it's really smart that right off the bat, something they do in like episode one of the show really, is that Ruse like, I'm the one telling the story. I am by the way, an incredibly unreliable narrator.
And so at points, you're also like, is this happening? Is this real? Like there's a moment in the Jules special where Zendaya shows up at her house or Rude's and like, I have no idea if the scene's actually happening or not. And I think that's very much, it's an A24 thing.
It's like, you can tell that they're making this show, that house of people. Like we talked about this. A24 has a style, everybody has their own style. That's why I think the show is immaculate looking.
I love the really warm color palette and the kind of grainy film look that they add. I don't know if it's actually shot on film, I doubt it because that'd be insanely expensive to do per episode. But it looks beautiful. Like a lot of the, there's a lot of really long tracking shots and stuff like at the parties where, like, it's a tight balancing act, as I said before, where the fact that they can juggle all of these characters and I can say that you care about all of them, like, in a weird way you do.
Because in that you want to know what happens, are some of them just horrible, terrible people? Yeah. I don't think Lexi is terrible. She is a great woman with ambitious goals.
Lexi is the best, but I'm wondering what they're setting up with the play. I'm so scared. Because like all the shots of her in that, like the most recent episode, have you seen it? No, I have not.
Okay, never mind. I'm sorry. But like the newest one? Yeah.
Oh, no, then yeah, no. Okay. Wait, you haven't episode four? No, I've seen episode four.
What was the last thing that happened? Um, you're in the hot tub. Yeah, that's the first recent episode. Yeah.
Yeah. No, I'm saying all the shots of her where she's just like observing. Oh, yes. And it casts, it's just like the same shot for shot type of thing in her own play.
