August 23rd Dear Parents, We’re going to have a great upcoming week. Below is a short description of what’s coming up and important links and/or announcements: Due to parent conferences, there is no school for students on Monday and Tuesday-Friday are all minimum days. School will end at 1:17 each day.  DARE Projects are due Thursday, August 29th. Reader’s Workshop We will finish our unit on Notice and Note signposts. The kids will be assessed on finding signposts in their books and analyzing them based on what we have practice. They are practicing these skills this week in their Notice and Note Signpost Log on google classroom. Writer’s Workshop Thank you for celebrating your child’s true story. Even if you could not attend on Friday take some time to read their story with them. They have been working so hard. Next week we will begin our next unit on Informational Writing to learn how to write to teach. Math We have finished our Unit on Area and Surface Area (though we will review it throughout the year) and will begin the first of two units on Ratios. The first unit is called Introduction to Ratios and will take us up to Fall Break. History We will start a new unit on the first civilization of study: Mesopotamia. Science We will review what we have studies about how our bodies our organized (cells, tissues, organs, and organ systems), and have a short quiz on this information on Wednesday.
