170 – Best Practices for Returning to In-Person Events

During the pandemic, we adjusted to a new normal with so many areas of our life becoming virtual. Now that we're nearing the end of this pandemic, things are starting to get back to the way they were pre-Covid. Returning to pre-Covid times can be stressful, however. You might not be in the groove of doing as many things in-person as you were before. As you start going to in-person networking events again, here are some best practices to follow to help keep you from getting overwhelmed. Before the Event: Before you go anywhere, discern what you say "yes" to. It's okay to say "no" sometimes. If you do decide to go to the event, take the time to connect with people before you go. During the Event: While you're there, network with people. It's critical to make sure your LinkedIn URL is on your business card. After the Event: When it's all over, make sure you follow up with people. Set aside the next day (or at least a portion of the day) to connect with them. If you're not following up with people, what's the point in even going to the event?
