170| MM: A Step You Might Be Missing in the Interviewing Process

Are you getting the most out of the interview process? If you have companies you are really excited about interviewing with, Nichole recommends an additional step of connecting with people from these companies via LinkedIn.

Go to LinkedIn and search a company name, click on People and search the exact role you applied for. Then see which team members pop up who have been in their role for 6 months or so, click connect and "add a note" so you can clarify why you are sending a connection request. 

"Hey [Name], I applied for [role] at [company]. I'm really excited about the opportunity and would love to connect with some team members to better understand the company mission and values as I go through the interview process. How have you enjoyed your role for the last [time in position]?"

Once they have accepted, you can ask them if there were any interview questions that surprised them or to better understand the overall process they went through to get hired. What do they feel like the team is looking for? Show genuine interest in them because even if you aren't hired for this role, they may be reaching back out when another role is opened up.
