Do you know when you're out? No, Boston's miles away. Boston's inside, can't you? What do I call it?
Pass New York. I don't know what they call it, I can get an opioid. Obviously they're not, um, quite as relative. No, they're not.
I've got these guns. Alright? What you wanted to deliver to Australia? No, well, I don't know.
They're not, they're not. But how are Danas going to get you? You don't play in? They're going to be good.
Yeah. They'll be silent on your day off. No, they'll be in out in a freak. No, I don't like Danas in a freak.
Really, they're donuts. No, I'll tell you they're donuts. First! I'm going to get you a chilli.
I'm judging, but can you hear me? You know, they're sweeping up. Yeah. Can you hear everything?
Because I grind my teeth, because all this shit. Good morning, good afternoon. Good evening. Listen to the old talk car podcast.
We're at Tom's Petal Pit. We're at the smash them up, repair them place. We've got the stolen reporting here. Tom's all right, buddy.
Tom's all right, buddy. What'd I say? Here, you're all right. Oh, the old place.
Tom's all right, buddy. Obviously you haven't smashed it for a while. No, that's a sweet amount. You're not 20 years.
You're my friend by accident. No, you're not here. Tom's all right, buddy. Obviously you haven't smashed it for a while.
No, that's a sweet amount. 20 years. You make friends by accident. No, you're not here.
Hosted by Petal owners. We're now, you're either munching. We're eating donuts at the moment. So basically, my brother and I, we're in America.
Every time we sort of donut shop, or donut, anything we donut related. That big donut. Redis. That's me.
We pick up the red car. No, that's a nice thing. That's first stop. And I want to take you there first stop.
You come to slavery. So basically, it's near the entrance of the freeway to go to LA. It's near LA. So basically, all the car in all places are all in one area.
And then when you're so turned to go to the freeway, you pass redis donuts. Are the donuts bigger than the ones you, or the same? Yeah, those ones. They all got super sized ones.
So what we ate now, there's some like that, like that round. But they're only a couple. But they're the ones we just ate now. Are they comparable to the American ones?
They're probably the best donuts in Australia. I'm not playing. It's not because I pay for it. I'm not playing it.
But basically, they're the better donuts in Australia. But in America, they're just rich mediocre. The donuts are amazing. And there's a million of them.
So we're poor time. We've flooded them with photos of every food stop. What do you call the buffet? The ribs buffet.
If you want it, they've got it. It's like, they had crabs, crabs, oysters. Then every sushi can think of... The first thing you mention I don't really...
No, but I'm working my way in order. Then you've got like a doubling section, like heaps of them. Then you've got fucking ribs, and you've got barbecue chicken. You've got every meat you can think of.
We haven't even hit the pastas and the pizzas and the Mexican section. Why are we talking about food, haven't we? Because you were chewing on the donut. We're stuck on food.
I've said that after the, your broadcast, we should have a lot of food. Your broadcast, we should have a five minute food broadcast at the end. You know the end of it. You'll do a food podcast.
Yeah, at the end of it. Like a five or ten minute, because we're all weak. Because, I mean, we get free cars. We drive cars, and thank you to our last time.
We get free food. Yeah, we get better restaurants and get free food. So if we do a food podcast. So when you view the chef, we plunk the restaurant, we eat for free, do one show a night.
We eat seven nights a week. And then we do a special Melbourne tour, and then a special Gold Coast tour. So then we go on the road. We reckon.
All food podcast. All eat, all talk, because we're all tour for the cars. Talk if you can eat. Swallow podcast.
Talk if you can eat. Talk if you can eat. The same wording as the talk, you know. Right.
At least it's like 15. After five minutes. And you know how you've got, what, what, what, you've got? I've got, it's like a, okay, we can have a hamburger there instead of the taco.
So basically the taco with the little. Yeah, we can have a burger, we've like, let us and thingy-sanging out of it. Let us, that look like. Yeah, like a taco.
A burger. Like a microphone stick, like a pickle. Yeah, yeah. You have a microphone stick it out of it.
See how we thought of all these decisions. You're like, I have these shows will be on next week. Yeah, I know. The fastest to go like.
You've got to be recording it and upload it. So I think I'll be able to just say it. You've got to have that blog right now. Yeah, we're going to do it.
Before we. Before we. Hang on, what's the date today? Oh, wait.
April Fool's. Was there an April Fool's joke today? No. We're recording on April Fool's probably on tomorrow.
You probably forgot to plug it in. No, no, it's, no, we did. We don't know. I was remember I think I've entered Bridge in the Porsches.
No, no, it worked until someone ripped something out. No, it wasn't blaming me. I was the only one in the car. So I'm going to blame me.
That was the only time we'd sort of lost half a recording. And it would have been a good one because all the Porsches flying out and he was like, Bridge. That was, I don't remember that one. The food podcast.
So what do we do? Just eat over the microphone. I don't know. We could work this one out.
Because when we do the live drives, you can hear the engines. Oh, that's. You can hear the except for the electric cars. You can hear the sound.
The only problem is they won't be much talkingsable. It would be true. Because remember, on the hundreds show, was it the hundreds? The hundreds were at the dinner.
Even though I was like, like, it was the 90 years. The Tling Tling and the Zir. So we could blend every 50 shows together. Or maybe we could start with the saucepan.
The intro is like the when they're cooking the food and then we reveal where we are. And then we start eating and then we do on train, main and dessert. But the only problem is after I've been cheating. Because I like the volumes I feel like I don't really want to talk.
I want to catch on a remote. Sorry if I made you all hungry. So basically we're eating together. So next week we're in Bathurst.
Bathurst. So we're going to talk about logistics. Are you going to head down to five? So we're going down on practice.
We'll be there for practice. Andy's been working out all week if the Tesla will make it. So I'm going to take the Tesla to Bathurst. There's a supercharger in Bathurst.
But I only need about 50% charge. Do you want me to bring in a spare leak? Extension leak? I'm going to leave.
We'll run it out the window. I plug it into your battery in your car. No, plug it into the hotel. Oh, yeah, no, no.
There's a charger in me by the new hotel. The new charger, every hotel's got one. Right. I'm plugging in the power point.
But there's also a Tesla charger at the museum. Which is just the right there. And there's also the supercharger network down the highway. So we're all leaving.
We're coming back on Monday. We'll be back till Thursday. Thursday. Yeah.
I think you'll buy before days away from the family. So basically, yeah. So we're going to probably, much of what we did last year. So we'll probably go down the pits during our practice, interview the team after practice.
We've got a bit of downtime. And I think on race day, we'll just hang out there with a little bit more. Yeah, we'll do live. And VPS, Zaks BMW.
That's the one end. Yeah, it didn't, well, Zaks pulled it because it wasn't ready. Okay. So it's not going to go there.
It was pushing it to get it ready. It's still on the podcast couple weeks ago. You didn't want to go there unprepared, which is fair enough. He's going to go there and learn and be there for next year.
So is he driving next weekend? No. No. Is there any internet, international or whatever he has got on you?
He is. So basically, he's not entered. No. But he's going to go down the road.
Yeah. Because you need a lot. It's not just, you know, a lot of people. We're talking about how many people you need in the pits.
You need people for catering. You need people to work out your telepathy. Telemetry on the laptop. Fuel people.
You need a lot of people. It's a shit load of organisation. It's a heart full of suppliers. When did we interview Zak?
Oh, it would have been. Two months ago. Okay. So from only having a car van that was still getting all new stuff and all that, right?
It's, you know what I mean? To get ready, he was trying. But you know what I mean? No.
But he's starting. He's very smart. Man, you know what? He didn't want to go there and look the full way.
No, no. But basically he was getting ready for next year. Yeah. But he was going to try to do a trial run this year.
Yeah. Anyway, he's going there now to prep and see what it takes to get there. Because like I said, it's not just pull up on the day at hand. You know what I mean?
And just race. Even though he could have gone into some other events, but still, you know what? You better for him to go there and have a look and see what's happening. Well, his ultimate goal was to race in the six hour, but next year.
Yeah, next year. And next year, you'll be prepping. So I think even if he goes down, he'll probably bump in and have a chat to him. Probably put him in.
Well, if that comes in with you. So basically we'll have a chat to him and get his ideas and what insights he sees from the pizza and what he's learning and what we've seen. We can ask him some questions. So the team now teaming up is Rick Shaw's got two are excited to get in there.
He's got one that's, I believe I'm not 100% sure Rick. I'm thinking of two people from New Zealand or two or three are coming for one of these cars to drive it. And the other one will be done with Rick Shaw, Tom Shaw, Al Aeton and Coxie. Coxie's back.
When he gets to speak, we made it. Didn't he come to the night? He didn't come to the night. He'll start with a good chat with Coxie.
He's an older officer. I was going to say experience. I'm going to say experience. I'm going to say experience.
And he'll be a good person to talk to because he's done. He's from Europe. Yeah, he's still racist. He's from Europe.
He's from England. No, they're not part of Europe anymore. He's from that country near Europe. But he's gone.
Yeah, we'll get him on. Yeah. So he'll come on in because he's racist and even now Rick's racist. I don't mean that one.
Just that man. Yeah. 24-hour, wasn't it? Oh, that was just a...
No race. He's racist everywhere. Yes. So I'll speak to...
We'll try and get Coxie on a while. We'll do it after Pete's probably before dinner because usually we have dinner with their decide. So we'll sort it out. We can always, see.
Because we have dinner after the race on Sunday all of us. We can do it there. broadcast with food and racing. Oh, is that for us for your restaurant?
Yeah. I mean that's... Yeah, Rick, are we... Is that the Thai restaurant that's across between Thai and...
I don't know. They sell steaks for that. What will you talk about? Yeah, steaks at the Thai restaurant.
Steaks at the Thai restaurant. Was there... Not sausage, or else I was like that. That's something else.
It was just complete. It was an Aussie Thai mashup menu. And like, it was great food. We had a good night that night.
So that was quite interesting. But a topic that I wanted to talk about, something... I mean, you're in the game from the repair side of things. I was going to say to you, how do you go about...
Because always when you went up before I buy it or we get insurance on your car, then I just sort of keep it rolling over. Everyone looks at the menu. Everyone looks at the menu. Everyone looks like that.
They look at the menu until they have a dingle. And then they fight. And then they realise either they can't do what they want. They get the wrong.
It's beautiful for people that don't know. They have an accident. They bring up the insurance company and they look after everything. Some people love it.
Some people love it. But majority... I know. Well, car people, they want to know.
They want to know. I want to take over the top. I want it to go. So the company...
Well, you've said to me, pay the... I'm going to pay extra so I can nominate my own repairer. Back in the old days, it didn't matter. You get your car fixed anyway.
Then slightly slightly, they changed it. Insurance companies started their own panel shops. It was almost like a supermarket. One stop fix or you just drive in.
You want to buy a choice of repair every time you ensure you want. Yeah, some include it. And some companies you pay extra for a choice of repairer. But the funny thing is you get a big insurance company and they've got like five companies under them.
And like half you get a choice of repairer anyway. You can do what you want. And the other half of they own. You've got no choice.
Yeah. So they've still got it. But like this is what I've always said. Back in the old days, the old wogs would come and get the car fixed.
And they just like, head you say, like they just keep on renewing. Like you said, you just renewing. But when insurance companies change, half these people don't look at their policies. No, no.
Then they have an accident and they discover that they can't take it to where they want. They can't just shit fight. You know what I'll do? These wogs, by the way, these wogs when they'll come in at, you know, like one of them.
They're king, they'll get their car fixed. And then ask them if they pick it up. They'll come to me and say, oh, this is no good. This is an outsider.
Like I back to where you got to find them. Oh yeah. But, but, but. And you can do that.
So you can ring up your insurance company and say this is not a good ride. Yeah, of course. Yeah, of course. You don't have to warranty.
You don't have to warranty your repairs. Any more for us, you get lifetime warranty. Right? But these wogs would come to me afterwards and say, look what they've done to the car.
I'd say go back. But they wouldn't go back. But if it was me who fixed it, there was a problem. That'll bust my chops to fix it.
With the update, I'd just expect it. No, just to fix it. If something was wrong with it. But the other companies, you know, where they should go bust their balls and just fix it.
No. No. No bother. Yeah.
So choice of repair. That's what you need. And the other thing that makes a difference to your final price is your excess. Yeah.
Your premium's lower then. Your premium's lower. But if you have a camera, you know, you have a car bar, you have a mirror on the pole or something. Like those mirrors aren't a hundred bucks, don't it?
It's not a buy-out. If I hit a mirror on the side, so my attitude is I would rather spend five, six, seven hundred bucks and get it fixed myself, find a mirror and get it fixed than go through insurance. Because if you go through insurance, the number of claims you make will affect you in the long run. That's a funny one, Pete.
It just happens to be that I've been denied insurance after how many years are being insured from my broker. Is that because your family knows that Daddy will fix it? Yeah, probably. Well, I'll take it that way.
I'll be warned if I have another claim that I'll be denied insurance. So, but yet there was another claim about four or five months ago, and I forgot all about it. And sure enough, I broke around. You said Tommy, can I get insurance?
I already told you. I remember. There's about ten cars in that car. You got all the cars in your family too.
Right? And I couldn't get insurance. So he started trying to get insurance. I couldn't get anywhere because he was giving him five years of accidents.
Yeah. But really, majority only went three years. So in that three years, there was a few less than the five. Yeah, yeah.
Now I ended up going to a new broker, a lady broker who found the insurance. The higher I made my excess, the cheaper my premium ones. Yeah, that's correct. But there's still a lot.
Is this the people I have low excess? And they bring up the insurance, but they bring up the insurance company to get it fixed. The more claims you make, the worse it gets. The worse it is for you in the long run.
Shit, yeah. Even if it's not your fault, when you've got a business policy, when it's not your fault, they still consider it your in-house. It's personal. Like, you still have a company.
Yeah. They can't. But they can't. And I had like two sheets full.
You know, I either get insurance. At least I got insurance. I'm not the same people who was because of this. I was thinking about saying it.
But you know what? I didn't know me. Well, we're not. No, no, no.
It's not that I need to say no. I'm just talking generally about what to look out for. And the other thing I found is with the Tesla. Why is the Tesla insurance very high?
You know your Tesla? You still wouldn't be able to bring it to me. Do you know how to repair an electric car? Is it that niche?
We do. Is it a very specialist? Yeah, it is. You've got to know what you're doing with repair for your off of them.
Yep. Right. At the beginning, we ran into some troubles ourselves. You know what I mean?
But we've learnt. We know what we're doing. But still, if you'll have an accident, like at the moment, I've lost two Tesla jobs. Because we're not a recommended Tesla repair.
You can't buy parts really for me either. It's literally not network. Okay. But it doesn't matter.
Some of these Teslas have been off the road since before Christmas because of weight in my parts. Yeah, because they're parts. Yeah, I've got one that was finished after three months. I went for a wheel on it.
And the suspension is damaged on the left hand side because I get the car and I've got pushed. And he's still got to wait for parts to come. I've got another one. Quarter panel.
Still weight in a quarter. And other parts compared to other cars are they more expensive or they're the same price? They're not the same price. It's just a matter of supply.
It doesn't matter. You're not paid for any of the insurance companies. I know. But if it's an expensive car repair, then wouldn't that reflect on your insurance?
Or is it based on the value? No, it's based on the value of the car. I don't know what they're saying. If you buy a ton of a car, your insurance premium is quite high compared to $20,000.
The whole thing is, if your car is older, your insurance is more. You're not a good judge. You're green slip. Your green slip is more if it's an older car.
Is that because you're a higher risk? Okay, that's just so I get more money. They're just trying to get rid of all the old cars. You know that.
They're trying to get rid of them. They're going electric. But with my... I'm not sure if I'm going to drive it on weekends.
It's not a day of... Is that insurance called? I see... It's true.
No, mate. You know, Shannon's got stuff like that where they know that you're driving it. I'm in a kid's choice of a cara. Yeah, but see with mine, the 9600 driver weekdays.
Really that I do. It's not a daily. So the policy is probably low because they reflect that the risk of that getting hit is quite low. Well, you could do...
I haven't heard of it for years, but you could do call on it as once. You know, money going to travel, you know, the 2001 year. But there's got... I haven't really looked into it.
I haven't had any nice cars for ages. Yeah. I'm only going to travel... But that's the whole point of classic insurance.
I remember when I had a father's car and it was a V or... Calla. Mate, it was only a couple hundred dollars to ensure. Because back in the day, or...
No, probably six or seven years ago. Okay. You know, it wasn't much at all to ensure. Because they knew you weren't driving it.
They knew you... Yeah, that's right. Because it's a classic car of classic insurance. Yeah.
There's... There's a lot of different challenges to specialise in it. Yeah. But you know, everyone knows that.
Yeah. But yeah, insurance... Look, all the insurance companies are similar, right? At the end of the day, they're all similar.
The aim is to not get rid of, but to fix your car. Things aren't always in their hands to control, not even the repairers' hands. It's just things happen. The worst thing with all these insurance companies, and I don't give a crap with all of them, is when you phone them or ring them, they dick you around for hours.
You can be on... You're talking about from your end from the repair end? At the end. Because you need to get something authorised.
Do you have a special number that you ring or...? No, no, no, that's all gone now. But even the customers, their own customers, like I get the shits and I'll say, listen, ring up and you give us a request for a quote or something. Because we're on the phone for three for hours.
We've got another company here, right? The girl who's chasing payments for instance, would phone at home, right? She would come to work, they'd still be and hold. Maybe three or four hours later, get through to the first person.
He's serious. And then they would put her to the next person and put her on hold again. Is that a dedicated line for merchant? I'd say if I was a customer, is that the same line as well?
That's me. I don't know. I've seen that happen here. And the worst thing is, the last week of the week before, she had done it.
She got here at five o'clock, the message has changed. Sorry, you called after hours. Oh, it's for Donna. Yeah.
That's wrong. And then if you get through it, just say you got four cases to ask them about. Don't let you do one at a time. So you have to ring back again.
Oh, really? Yeah. They've got none of my staff, whatever they outclass everything anyway. That sucks too.
You talk to someone overseas and they've got half the time wrong because all the insurance companies change everything all the time. There's nothing permanent even in the way they say everything. Have you noticed that a lot of companies now are not using overseas call centers? Since all these data breaches, I've noticed a lot of risk with information, especially in the banking industry.
There's a risk about information. And of course, that's not. So I've noticed that there's been a big change. We have a ring, these big companies.
You're speaking to all these now. The latest prank call, not prank call, whether you're trying to get a game. And Tony got one today too, the same people. I got that the other day.
You've had a thing off your credit card guard for $30,000. If it's not true or yeah, it's not. Sorry. Don't want to stop or dull too.
No, no, don't do it. I'm driving. I'm trying. I get transferred to a proper car.
I'd just speak to someone. I've got no credit cards. You guys know that? No, no, no, no.
Hang on. Comes back probably getting out of his answer sheet. I'm going to, someone trying to start a credit card. I got a phone.
Which bank? Hang on a sec. I'm not sure, but they're trying to, not like, he was good. It's not like it pissed off.
They're not just hanging up on him. But they're some are good. The best, I had one. There was a scam going around for it.
Car accidents. They really, so we heard you're involved in the car accident. And I was so excited. Did you hear about it?
Mate, did you see what happened in the car? You said the pictures? The car rolled three times. I'm going to believe it, man.
You can't believe you heard about it. We just put you. You hung up on me. I love when they ring those pranks.
The best is for solar panels on your roof. No, you know what they're doing now. The solar panel on the roof. I go, you've got to have it at the house.
We're going to put solar panels. I'll live on the ground floor. There's someone above me. We're going to squeeze them in.
I'm going to leave it at the ground floor. But I'll leave it at the ground floor. But I'll leave it at the ground floor. It depends on how you feel.
But if you don't like it, you're just, you're not going to get it. But the newest one is hot water. They want to change the hot water. Right.
And here they've come in how many times they're on the phone. Here he came. He goes, I'll tell him. They can't even catch the room.
He's going to take them half of the room. You can't put it aside. You can't take them half the room. I'll go down.
You have to pay for the plane for the plane for the button. Don't worry about it. This game everywhere. As soon as the government is saving the company happening.
We're getting a lot of phone calls on that. And the phone ones are left. But the roof lands in the solar panels. I'll tell them there's a big tree, and there's no sun.
And how are they gonna do it? Oh, cut the tree. We've got the chainsaws and chainsaws. We've got the chainsaws and chainsaws right there.
We've got the chainsaws. We've got the chainsaws and chainsaws. We've got the chainsaws and chainsaws on the roof. I just love, I don't know, and the best is, you're stringing a lot of things that you're a tenant.
When they hear that. The ground floor, yeah, the guy says might have a problem. But you're stringing a lot of them reveal the big surprise at the end. The insurance companies, man, they're all for the purpose of fixing a car, they all do the same thing.
It's just that it's when you get dicked around by them, you really get dicked around by them. But like phones is the main thing, but like other things where the customers are getting the inside. I've got one at the moment, his son drive the car that I want to ensure him for, right? Because his son shouldn't be driving the car.
I want to knock back the car. Yeah, they actually knock it back and he's going to the office, man, insurance office, man. Like, you know what I mean? The customer ain't getting dicked around.
He's done something wrong. Surely the part of the car was... The main thing was, surely your son's allowed to take the car to the shop. You know, he's not driving a permit, you haven't nominated him.
But then it comes down to you didn't nominate your son. Well, if he's 18, he's not, he's not. He's got a red piece. He's got like a CLC, Mercedes-Coop.
15, 14, you've seen the car, 14, you're on model. The car was like 12 grand. They wanted just ensuring his name. They wanted 12, 13 grand.
They wanted the value of the car. And then I thought, I'll put in my name and put him as a nominated driver. Then they wanted 6, 7 grand. And I was like, you know what?
Then I just put it in my name and it's next to nothing. Under 25s are allowed to drive it. But if he has an accident, the XCC is like through the roof. Well, that's what happened with me.
We've changed it to this new company. Yeah. First, in one car that I know my daughter drives all the time, I asked her to do the sums only if I nominate her as the driver of the car and it went up like 10 grand. But this is the catch 22.
If you're not, because my billie's in it on her else and she's getting a piece of shoe, right? So if you nominate her as a designated driver, her no claim will build. Yeah, but you're paying for it upfront because in three, four, five years time she gets her own car on her own. Everything on her own.
Yes. She can claim 50, 60% no claims. Yeah, but you know what to get there is that paying the arches. But you're paying 10 grand a year.
But she always had a car and she would have a car and she would have a company's name. Correct. Like I asked, I asked, what about if my daughter drives some of the other cars? Oh yeah, she's allowed to drive.
So hang on. So if I don't nominate her, she could still drive that car. Yes. But the excess is just a 1,800 bucks or whatever extra because in any car, so the more I would pay an extra $8,000 a year or whatever to have her.
Just to get back in our day in the early 90s, my parents had us and there's not a lot of drivers without a mate and you didn't have to pay extra back in those days. Everything now is different. The other thing, the end of the day insurance company is a business. Correct.
But another loophole I made of mine did, again, we're talking decades old, younger. He was 30, never owned his own car because he'd always, he's been an accountant, city accountant, lived in the city, never needed a car, and always hired a car went to go into state or overseas. And basically when he bought his first B1, they were trying to get him at zero in a claim. People are forgetting me recording and I keep on nodding at you.
Yeah, I know. You're great. So do you say yes? Yes, yes.
Yes, right. So basically, so what he did was he settled up and drive for 10 years. He's my licence. He's never owned a car, but work used to ensure me through their company cars, etc.
So basically he had a letter from work saying, yeah, he's been driving out. What's that all work? And this is like 20 years ago. So I don't know.
What you just said, I thought of two, like later in life where my daughter say, you know, he's got her own family registers. You're right, yeah, she's on her own. I don't know if she could say, I've always driven for companies. Yeah, I've been employed at this company and the boys give me a company.
Yeah, I wonder if that was, you know what, I'm going to find out. That worked back in the day. I don't know now whether... Well, it should count.
He needed a letter from work and he's the accounts of firms like International firm, when I'm talking, you know, beat Smith and Koe down the road. What's on the road, buddy? What's on the other side? It's hard to do to make letters just what?
So basically that was another little loophole. I'm trying to think of ways, because my daughter's going to be driving on her own soon. But all our daughters are always going to be driving a company named Richard's car. Yeah.
None of them are in your personal name, darling. No, they're all in my name. Yeah. Just your name or company?
Yeah, but we're going to start using companies. Yeah, you've got to use company names. Yeah, we'll look into that when the time comes. Insurance companies.
There you go. We'll try and get someone on for you. You'll have to hate them, but you need them. No, you do, the day you drive without insurance.
Hey, you know how many people have got no insurance? I know. All right, we know it's tough out there, money and all that. No.
