174. My Relationship to My Own Body as an Actress

from One Broke Actress · host Sam Valentine

TW: Body Dysmorphia + Disordered Eating My relationship to my body has been a lifelong uphill battle. There are so many moments in my life where I have just felt absolutely disconnected to what my body really looks like. After years and years and years of eating disorders and body dysmorphia, I have finally gotten to a place where I am happy with where I am. I fuel my body, I take care of it, and I have learned how to engage in the pursuit of acting without the toxic Hollywood ideal of becoming ever-thinner. This episode was immensely personal and vulnerable for me to share, especially as I look back on an article that dove into what 2017 Sam believed to be a healthy relationship with food. Let me know if this helped you in some way, and how you have learned to take care of yourselves and your body as an actor in this business. Explicit Shut Up I Love It Sasha Feiler and Joe Cabello Many years ago, Sasha Feiler and Joe Cabello met in line for an improv show. They were young, dumb, and full of it. What followed were comedy shows so explicit, “genitalia” was practically a term of endearment.Fast forward 5 dogs, 6 cats, and way too many weird inside jokes later, Sasha and Joe are no longer young or dumb—but they’re still brimming with you-know-what.
