Mr Turbos, Mr Turbos, Mr Turbos, Mr Turbos, Mr Turbos. I want a couple of beds. Welcome back to the sports radio. Thanks for joining us for another Nintendo Entertainment Turbos tournament edition of the show.
Welcome. Mini. Sorry, Mini. Asterix.
Yeah, so in these episodes we go up to a tournament. You've already seen it. You must have listened to all the episodes about this. I've got this into this episode, we've all listened to the other episodes.
I've got this in the show. It's obviously a message with me again to really get to the bottom of things, mate. To get to the bottom of things. We're getting there, we're struggling through it, we're knocking them out.
Yeah. We're still not quite at the end of the day. So we've got a second round now. We've got the first eliminations and now we've got the real proper match episodes, folks.
These are the first, it's kind of the first round. I classify it as a second round, mate, because it is. But there's a couple of them that are in and still like, they just come out of the gate. True.
Some people have any other than mentioned that, have they? Well, all these people have been mentioned yet. So this is a true first round. So we introduced the episode today, maybe, here we go, Paul.
Well, today we've got a found or mother, I believe it was called, was it in the Japanese, it was called mother, Japan, and Super Castlevania 4, which was the first release on the SNES after the other three by Castlevania. And as you know, the benefit that was on the SNES that had gained previously to it, they had to chuck super on there, just to know that it is now super. Because you showed it, you know, I mean, we've had Street Fighter didn't do it initially, but then they caught on and then they did do Street Fighter 2 quickly. But before the SNES finishes, we need to get that super in there.
Yeah, you have to get that super in there. So you might be thinking, oh, it was there. Four Super Castlevania's, no, there isn't four Super Castlevania's. This was the first Super Castlevania on the SNES.
Well, it says it's, it just put super on there. It's almost Castlevania 4, but in brackets before the Castlevania, there is a word that says super. So just so you know it is a super game. Get all of it.
All right, we'll get on with it. Yeah, because hopefully it's a bit short and sweet. Is this up to only three minutes long? Yeah, yeah, it is.
And the winner is... Well, let's go. If you sort of run through it. Yeah, we'll do what we did last time.
We'll just place our relationships with the games. So I'll just ask you, first memories of Earthbound? I mean, the first time I played Earthbound was I think I had it on the Wii U. Because it was, they sort of, they sort of, they sort of said, oh, this mother is on the Wii U, it's on the Wii U, it's on the Nintendo.
That way you download games and shit. This game was never released outside of, was it released in North America? No. I don't think so.
I think it was just Japan. So it's been released now. So I brought it then. And that's the first time I played it.
So I got no hiking recollection from being a fucking kid player. I never even saw a touch there. So that's my experience. Super Castlevania, I mean, everyone sort of had Super Castlevania.
It was almost like the beast of the Super Nintendo. Yeah. Everyone, everyone knew somebody about it. So you'd have had to go on it.
Yeah. It wasn't a great game at all. But it is a platform. It is a game, classic game, a game.
Yeah. And it was the early Castlevania as well. So obviously once the Castlevania became more sort of, lucky sort of, a bad with it. Super.
It's flooring and getting a different power-ups and that kind of thing too. Like, I really like, like, Aria Sorrow and like the Sorrow like ones. They're really good to Castlevania. And then they say this one's just more of a platform.
And it's pretty solid to be fair. It was quite a hard platformer. So it's got that going. Yeah.
It's really good. It's even got little things. Okay. We placed that.
We placed that. Let's move on to the gameplay and all that sort of shit. But with the gameplay, solid gameplay, really just basic controls. Yeah.
But you kind of knew what you were in format. You knew that you weren't going to jump over certain things and you were going to jump over other things. You knew that you could go through. It was quite intuitive.
Yeah. You could tell what you could hit and what you couldn't hit. You know, little candles, knocking about. You could hit there.
Yeah. A little bag of money or whatever. You know, you could go in a heart. Yeah.
All that sort of shit. I thought we were going to throw a shit. Yeah. Yeah.
Oh, everyone's bent. Yeah. Earthbound in terms of the gameplay is Pokémon. Right.
It's Pokémon. It's Pokémon mixed with any Telco RBG. It's one of those difficult ones, isn't it? Because when I was playing it, are you still getting to point any good congo?
Am I enjoying this or am I now just sort of going through the motions? And it's a bit like want do around. I think I've got to, I think I've got to the bit where you're in a factory and it all sort of flobs over the floor. And it's just, I think I've got to piss you off.
It's an oasis as well. We'll get to the sound. Right. Yeah.
It's a good little RPG, don't get me wrong, it's like a little JR. It is a good little JRPG, it's one of the best, but it's not the best. Oh no, God. Because Pokemon does kind of have that, it's just the basic standard.
Let's move on parts of Pokemon, you know, you didn't have the team knocking about. I think they're found, although in Breathire, Secret Marnet, it's nice to have the crew. Yeah. I think they're found in Needy Crew.
It's needed, I think you just needed Nestle if you're knocking around, and it's doing this thing. Because I mean, it's a little Lucas. I like it, because we didn't even need it. Was he in the first one?
Or was it a different game? No, he was in there. Yeah, he would have been in there. But yeah, Nestle was my character on Smash Brothers, and he was, you know, so I played it after I played Smash Brothers to really pay the respect to the player that I am.
And I got far through it, but again, it was like you said, it's like, Am I enjoying this? Yeah. I'm just doing it because I played that character. So it doesn't...
Because that would be the first time that I had seen that character as well, was when he was on Smash Brothers, because it was a bit like the fuck you. The fuck is that? It was Nestle. It was Nestle.
He's got a baseball bat, a yo-yo, and he's got a cat. He's a big fan of it. Yeah, he was getting that, and I guess he's sort of thinking, oh, he's quality, and then he plays sort of mother. No, why is he not?
Not PK-funded people like this, so they'll be willing. Yeah, which you should have been doing. You'd have loved it, it'd have been great game. We'd bring it.
Let's just keep it. Let's do the gradings first, make a run through, and then we'll do a great narrative. Music. All I've got in my head of Earthound is all the sound, the soundtrack is really kind of like a little bit too, on it.
It gets you. Exactly. It does well on you a little bit. Chirpy, chirpy, chirpy sounds, chirpy.
It's like, can you just stop the chirpy sound? If I go to this cave, you can just be an easy, less chirpy, no. This will be a double chirpy sound going into this place. I'm pretty sure as well, again, because when the time I was playing it, I wasn't playing it as a kid.
I'm pretty sure I just played it while listening to music, or listening to the podcast. I don't mean that sort of situation, or listening to something else, while playing that game, because I'm not dealing with that fucking... It's a pucksley, isn't it? With a darks farting.
You like that, didn't you? On the other hand, I think Superclass of Vania does have some pretty decent tunes, mate. Yeah, from what I remember, it's not your standard talk. Shall we do a classic little if I get the old YouTube up and get some tracks out there?
In a quick 30 second blast. See if I can find it. If you get it, I'm not going very much. If anyone needs my listening, who is one of those response deaf phones, send some ink.
My shit. Right, this is the opening, it says. So this might be a nostalgic, this is Amazon, they're not getting it. I'll say the word, but I ain't going to play it.
I think it is quite a cool little... Oh yeah, it is. I think it might have even appeared on Megamix, what are these ones? Oh yeah.
We have to talk a bit, because otherwise they're going to pursue us. Yeah, Megamix, did you see the Megamix 9? It was on Spotify for about an hour. I think it got full.
But it's not available on Apple podcast, that sound like... That sounds like... This is a bit... It's a bit underwhelming, isn't it?
I thought I was going to pick up that, didn't it? I mean, it's atmospheric, I'll give it that. The soundtrack to be cast with Vania was atmospheric. Sorry, people, we'll get there.
I mean, I know this is... Yeah, that's the one you know. Yeah, that's the one you know. Duh duh duh duh duh duh.
What a tune. Something's going in the house! Go! What?
What? I'm a DJ! Oh, the eggs are laughing. That's enough of that shit.
Yeah, so, good tune. Yeah. Really good tune, Meg. Really good tune.
Yeah, you've got to love that one. Wait for this bit as well, because the trumpet comes in. Ooh, it's just... Wait, wait, wait, wait.
Wait in. You like this solo? Ooh, trumpet solo. Ooh, come on.
Beautiful. That's a good tune. Yeah, I'm pretty sorry. You can tell that that's, you know, cos I'm in this going to win on the music category in this section.
Should we just pull up a really annoying... Yeah, I think so. ...phone from a phone. ...phone to...
Should we go title-screen? Yeah, this is for you all. He's got those almost minor-esque, right? I mean, Johnny, but he's a bit...
Right, it's thin after. He's playing this at eight hours. Do you think you're going to be a... Johnny is this?
Yeah, yeah. And when the battles are well, so really... ...really random, but I'm going to fucking spin in the little hit points and that sort of shit. And even...
Who wants to be left for this? This sound. Constantly. Yeah.
It's not... it's not into it, so... It's not in the same... Yeah, that's just what you're going to say.
Oh, I don't know what it's talking about. Well, you're not doing it all, maybe. Do you have a credential to do it a little, and that's the question. Don't be calling himself and ring you up.
He did not. Graphics. Grapics. Graphics.
I was thinking... I mean, it was a pretty good graphics. I mean, it was an early one, but it was an early one for this NES as well. Yeah, I mean, compared to Metroid, in terms of like a straight platformer with...
Yeah. ...a little bit of a bit of a part in there, there's no in near as good in graphics as Metroid as Metroid is. Yeah, I mean, it's really beautiful. But I think it's on the same sort of...
It's got candles in it. Yeah, it's got candles in it. Yeah, it's like I say, you can't go behind stuff. And the monsters are pretty good.
You better spray in it, pretty good. Like, they're like, track and death as well when it's a really nice laugh. Yeah, it's a pretty... Yeah, I mean, it's nothing great.
Yeah. But good. Yeah. No, you're going to get better.
And they're bound not very good graphics at all, I'd say. Yeah, but I think that's kind of... It's given it's like... It's like a scene when it was a bit like...
It's not trying to be a graphic. It's just trying to be a good game. It's like, I've played Undertale. Can't say that though.
That's kind of the same sort of vein. It's like not great graphics. You're like a little fellow and you're going to go around and do some shit. My little boy plays it though.
He fucking loves it. He likes it. Yeah. You can do different routes there.
You can either be a pacifist and not kill anything. And then you get like one ending or you can be an asshole and go around and kill everything. And become super happy when you get a different ending. I like that.
It's good. Yeah, I like that. But a fight is on that. It's like...
It'll be like an RPG fight, but then it's like a bullet. Like a hell thing. You've got like your little part has got a shit there shooting at you. You're kind of mini games.
I like that. That's good. It's not bad, but sometimes that does become a bit of an am I enjoying it? What's the point?
Why am I actually doing this? Yeah. Right. Let's just quickly move on to sales.
Who do you think? I'll tell you they're close. It's close. But you know that...
I must have been releasing North America though, don't think you're close. Because you're not getting a close sales battle if it's literally just from Japan and then the supercars of the rest of the world. Let's find out. Maybe just do it.
Maybe just a pond. As they say today. Mother snares North America. Okay.
So it was released in North America as mother. It was mother in Japan and Earthbound in America. That's what it was. It was released on June 5th, 1995 in North America.
Yes. It just never came. So mother was Japan and then it got out of bed. So sales wise then.
I still think Castlevania would have... No. No. It was in Northbound.
The 658,000 Castlevania did 500. So only under a thousand more. But I would have definitely gone Castlevania. But maybe people like...
Maybe the Pokemon back and made, you know, just a J&B G. Oh, Fbound is one of the best like RPTs ever in it. It's just not our boat. You boys don't even fucking know what it's JB.
You'd go like, what are you talking about? Yeah, we like my heart. I've been fighting KJ. I've been trying to get a drink.
I've been trying to get a drink. They're not even in a shit. They're not even in true RPTs. They're not even in a shit.
They're not even in a shit. They're not even in true RPTs. They're not even in a shit. They're not even in true RPTs.
They're not even in a shit. Mine is going to be Earthbound just because of the Smash Bros. con of connection. To the character.
Yeah, to the character, you know. He's my exclusive character mate. No, I know you were being fan of it. You know, I did...
You did a completely actual game then, Earthbound. You had a completely that. I would say no. If you emulate in that game mate, you really completely...
Yeah, true. Like I can emulate everyone yellow years ago. I did. I can beat that.
You know, fuck. Say that though. I don't think I have a completely castlevania. I played it a lot because, you know, if you went to someone's house, they're doing like, super castlevania and they might have crushed these fucking funhouses.
You're playing super castlevania. Yeah, all they got to say is that they're only playing battle tapes. Right, so let's run through. So, gameplay, your vote.
Gameplay, Castlevania. Yeah. Music, Castlevania. Yeah.
I always have a graphics, Castlevania. Sales is a fan. Sales is a fan. It was a tie.
But even if it's a tie, I would say for me personally, gameplay, music and graphics, Castlevania is a superior game. Yeah. So... Do you want to answer me?
Yeah, well, I went over this round is super castlevania. So here we're going through to the next round. Oh, we don't know what he's going to be up against yet because we have to have to have to have to have. We've got another round one, aren't we?
Yeah, the winner of Street Fighter versus Final Fantasy III. So... So that's it. You want to keep it in the top, so you want to see it?
Oh, this is Sven's. One thing that you might win that one. Yeah, cos Final Fantasy III is a brilliant RPG. It's one thing that's a true original.
Yeah, it's really good. And we'll be there to support it. Yeah, it's a good one. Oh, anyway, yeah.
Supercastlevania is the winner of this round. There we go. So, thanks for tuning in. And we'll see you next time.
See you later, mate.
