176. "The Vast of Night" // Spoetzl (Shiner, TX) // King Cong (Sacramento, CA)
from Fresh Hop Cinema · host Max Minardi and Jonny Summers: Craft Beer & Film Enthusiasts
This week on the show we cover the first "new" new film we've come across in quite some time by the name of "The Vast of Night." It's an Amazon-released Sci-Fi film starring Jake Horowitz and Sierra McCormick in which the two play characters in the 1950's that hear a mysterious sound over the radio waves and begin to dig deeper to discover the hidden secrets of the universe. We drink some tasty summer-friendly beers in the forms of "Shiner Ruby Redbird," a fruit and field beer from the Texas brewery Spoetzl and a lager out of Sacramento brewery King Cong called "El Campeon." Episode Timeline: 0:00 - Intro & Shout Outs: - 2:30 - "Shiner Ruby Redbird" - 21:00 - Flick Picks Jonny: "The Lovebirds" (2020) - 29:00 - Flick Picks Max: "Hunt for the Wilderpeople" (2016), "Eyes Wide Shut" (1999) - 35:14 - "The Vast of Night" (No SPOILERS) - 49:30 - "El Campeón" - 1:02:48 - Hot & Bothered - 1:15:09 "The Vast of Night" (DANGER ZONE) Please rate & review us wherever you listen to podcasts and, if you're so inclined, consider donating to the show via our Patreon page.
