Rodeo athlete, North Texas rancher, wife, volleyball coach, and full-time teacher at Texas Virtual Academy at Hallsville, Shai Schaefer could teach a masters course on multi-tasking. And when she’s on the rodeo circuit traveling to the next competition, she brings her classroom of sixth- and seventh-grade science students with her.  Shai teaches from her new trailer equipped with an office-friendly space when she’s competing in the fastest rodeo sport, breakaway roping. Rodeo has taught her many lessons that apply to the classroom, including patience and appreciating different perspectives among her students.  Back from her recent record-breaking 1.5-second run at the San Antonio Rodeo, Shai is happy to take time and share more about how she juggles teaching with rodeo competitions.  In The LOOP Podcast hosted by Jordan Jo Hollabaugh, is inspired by the western culture and breakaway roping lifestyle.
