179-Holistic Health Part 3: The Physical Body

from It’s Beyond The Food: Non-Diet Health Coaching · host Stephanie Dodier

Holistic Approach to Making Peace with Food and Body Why do I need to go beyond the food to make peace with food and my body That’s the one question I get and yes... that’s a very valid question, and to be honest, a very good starting point for us to have a very powerful conversation. We’ve been trained for years via diet culture to seek a solution to our food, weight and body issues with food and exercise. If we whip in shape our physical body, we will get result. Get thinner... and then, we’ll be happy and healthy. yet it doesn’t work. We know that and hence why you and I are here... Why doesn’t it work... because our relationship with food and body doesn’t stem from our physical body, rather it shows up in our physical body. It originates from our mind, emotions, and spirit. That’s what I’ve found through my own struggle and later on what my training and education has taught me. The 4 layers of the human being is what we address in the Going Beyond the Food Method. It stems from a very old body of work - Holistic health. In today’s episode, we’ll deep dive into the physical body particularly around perimenopause with Dr. Michelle Sands In show 177, we spoke to the mental body with Christina Hyland. In show 178, we spoke about the spiritual body with Dr. Louise Swartswalter. Upcoming in show 180, we’ll talk about the emotional body with Dr. Joan Rosenberg.  Finally, show 181 we’ll talk about a unique aspect of human that has a tremendous impact on why we urge to eat or self-destruct via body shaming: our nervous system. In this episode I discuss The reason why we cannot separate each of the 4 bodies from each other The role of the physical body in relationship to the holistic health model Perimenopause and menopause: their impact to women's body overall health Why suffering is optional when dealing with perimenopause and menopause Last episode was an insightful interview with Dr. Louise Swartswalter as we deep dive into the spiritual body and its impact on the way we engage with food and body.   She gave us a clear understanding of what energy medicine is and how to begin to heal our spiritual body. She also gave us practical situation how the spiritual body shows up in our day to day life.  Ultimately, she talked about how the Spiritual Body  is key to making peace with food and body. Click here!
