18 | Bible 101: Learning how to Read and Study the Bible Responsibly

from Christ over Culture · host Michelle Lenae

Mind. Body. [Soul] series. Bible 101! Have you ever thought about reading the Bible all the way through? Well I have and what I can say is, it's not as easy as I thought. So, I've brought in one of the most amazing Bible scholars I know, Pastor Kim Orr, to help me break this thang down! In this episode, we debunk myths, discuss the difference between reading vs. studying the Bible, and walk through an example of how one might go about studying the Bible responsibly whether its their first time opening the Bible for themselves or their eleven-hundredth time! One thing I've found out is that there's always something to learn from the Bible and it doesn't have to be a daunting task to read the whole thing when you do it in a safe community where you can stumble, fall, and ask questions. I love this topic and I've been wanting to do it since I started this podcast! You're in for a treat! Plus, Pastor Kim is coming out with her own podcast "Defining Faith" where they take faith words and define them and clear up any misunderstandings about them. Head over to their Facebook Page "Defining Faith" to check them out and send over faith based words that you're curious about! Resources mentioned in this episode: - Craig Keener - IVP New Testament Historical Commentary (Book) - Billmounce.com - Bible Hub App - Bible Gateway App - Inductive Bible Study - type of Bible study discussed in this episode This episode was produced by Michelle Lenae and Jose Partida.
