18. Flying High

from Less Talk < More Walk · host The Belly of the Whale

We turned 18! We can officially buy cigs. Feels good, right? This is 30 minutes of us hanging out and shooting the shit. We talk about flying private with Reese, some upcoming murals for Drew, and the water situation in LA. *HISTORY RANT* The Wright Brothers are generally credited with inventing, building, and flying the world's first successful aircraft. However, they were not the only ones trying to accomplish this feat during their time. Samuel P. Langley was commissioned by the US Government to accomplish the same goal. Langley had a more experienced, knowledgable team with access to more money and more resources than the Wright Brothers, but unless you know this story, you've probably never heard of Samuel P. Langley. That's because he failed and gave up. The Wright Brothers had a more inspired, close-knit team working with them to help accomplish their goal with a fraction of the resources as Langley. The Wright Brothers were working tirelessly because they believed they could FLY. Langley was in it for other reasons. It's not always obvious who will succeed and who won't, but I'm putting my money on those who are in it for the truth. Langley might seem like the smartest choice, but I want the dudes with the bicycle shop on my squad. I want the Wright Brothers. I want the underdogs.
