Junia has come a bit under fire in the past few years, with people disputing her name and rank among the apostles. We discuss the Greek text and the situation and context of Romans 16:7, and come to the standard conclusion that Junia was indeed an apostle. We answer the two major objections to her apostleship, and then we then discuss the implications of Junia for the modern evangelical church, and the role of intertextuality between Romans and the Gospel of Luke. Junia was an apostle, and a standout one at that, and this needs to be taken with serious force in the church's debate concerning the ordination of women to positions of leadership within the Body of Christ. Porter Porter Ben Porter began cutting his teeth in music as a bassist for the hardcore band, Tenfold, in 1996. Shortly after, the need to explore music led to a short stent playing drums in the band, Blue Minus, with his college mate, Scott Mathews. Although the band was short lived, the connection with Scott blossomed into yet another band. They formed the band Serus Victoria in 2002. Five years and two albums later, the band split when Ben relocated to Beaverton, Oregon, where he began exploring writing on his own. Now, after a 7 year hiatus (mainly due to raising 2 kids), he's back and creating again. This time, with his new band, The LP Experiment, he and his bandmate, Nick Lind, go forth to create and explore new heights in their music with their upcoming album entitled "The Astronaut's Dilemma" and the EP "Life and Everything In Between." Pastoring in Partisan Times Missouri Annual Conference Rising partisanship in our country has made finding common ground difficult. A recent study found that Methodism is one of America's most politically divided denominations, with both congregants and their pastors roughly split between the Democratic and Republican Parties. This makes the work of a pastor – a spiritual leader to everyone in their pews – hard. Navigating those tensions and modeling new ways of remaining in relationship with those we disagree is not for the weak of heart. Pastoring in Partisan Times seeks to gain insight into pastoring purple in red and blue churches.
