18. Terumah: Is It 'Give and Take' or 'Take and Give'? -Learning To Be In A Relationship With G-d

from The Jewish Mind · host Rabbi Avrohom Lipszyc

“The Lord spoke to Moses saying, ‘Speak to the children of Israel, and have them take for Me a Terumah (donation)'" -Exodus 25:1-2 Why, "TAKE for Me," and not simply say "GIVE a donation...?" In this lecture we will learn the imperative foundation needed to be in a healthy and non-abusive relationship with another person. We will learn the necessity to TAKE as well as to GIVE in our relationships, or we will be forcing upon ourselves an abusive relationship! Yes, it must be GIVE before TAKE, but it also must be that we TAKE after we GIVE. We will also learn that it is very different in having a relationship with G-d, where we must first TAKE from G-d, before we GIVE to G-d. This lecture will enrich all your relationships!
