180. Moon (2009)

Moon is a cult classic film built on a small budget, and seemed to set up most other space films in the genre - but Tommy & DL aren't convinced! Jump in to hear about Moon, Tommy's partner's thoughts on Heretic and DL's preparations for three weeks away... the night before! **************************** Time Codes: Intro 0:24 What's been happening? 2:36 What have you been up to? 7:06 MAIN TOPIC: Moon (2009) 24:40 Stupid Plot Summary 26:12 Cast & Crew 26:56 Plot 29:45 Wow, that was really good! 36:55 The Twist 38:33 Pacing 46:20 Practical Effects 48:42 Tones & Themes 54:17 3 Best & 3 Worst 55:27 Critical Reception 57:50 Better or Worse than Aquaman (2018)? 58:41 Trivia True or False 59:47 Wrap-Up 1:03:05 Main Topic: "Moon (2009)" is about solitude, commitment, introspection, and collecting moon rocks to sustain the Earth. Low stakes, right? Sam Rockwell plays Sam Bell, a lone miner on the moon sending rocks back to Earth for fuel, support by the robot played by Kevin Spacey (😦). In this moody, moony sci-fi pic, you'll be riveted by the potential and absorbed in the ambience of the low-budget set from back in 2009. Is Sam Rockwell a secret talent? Were you convinced by Sam Bell's relaxed approach to a short timeline? And could you live on the Moon by yourself for three years?
