181. Black Swan with Harper from Hawkeyes Podcast

from Movies That Made Us Gay · host Scott Youngbauer & Peter Lozano

"What happened to my sweet girl?" "She's gone!" We watched Black Swan (2010) with our friend Harper, cohost of Hawkeyes Podcast and you'll have to excuse us, we have a lipstick mirror message to wipe off. We're closing out our mini Oscar series with the one that gave Natalie Portman her Best Actress win. Sure she's on the verge of tears the entire movie but you can't deny Natatlie and costar Mila Kunis put in the work to make this movie happen. Director Darren Aronofsky got some stellar performances from the two of them playing differnt sides of the same coin in an edgy, moody, tense package. Don't worry, we talk about the kerfuffle over Natalie's dance double and her getting adequate credit, give our dubious plot description of the ballet Swan Lake and we break down the eternal question; is Natalie Portman actually a good actress?  Regardless of our thoughts on that last one, she's got a little gold statue on her mantle that speaks for itself. Grab your legwarmers, scuff up your brand new toe shoes and get ready to eat no food while we talk everything Black Swan!
