Welcome to Which Game First where we boldly explore the hilariously huge world of board games. Did we unearth any hidden treasures you’ve been missing out on? Let’s find out! First: We roll the dice and fill the grid in Tetris style in Number DropNext: We speed between gas and brakes in hope of perfectly rounding that apex in VektoRaceAnd lastly: We go round and round and round a monochrome board in what the box claims to be a Fantastic Voyage Number Drop Designed by: Florian Sirieix, Benoit TurpinPublished by: Débâcle Jeux (2021)Players: 1 – 6Ages: 10 & upPlaying time: 20 min Number Drop is a Tetris style roll & write game played with shapes & numbers. Roll 5 dice, 4 have numbers, the other one determines the shape of the piece. Drop the Tetris shape into your grid, and populate the space with the numbers rolled. You are looking to line up 3 of the same number, or 3 consecutive numbers in a row. Unlock blocking tiles to make things extra difficult for your opponents. Complete all your rows, try not to leave blank spaces. Once a player hits the top line, the game ends, scores added up, a winner is declared, and sit back and enjoy looking at your imperfect grid. VektoRace Designed by: Spartaco Albertarelli, Davide GhelfiPublished by: Kaleidos Games (2018)Players: 2 – 4Ages: 12 & upPlaying time: 45 min VektoRace is a racing car simulation based on a vector movement concept called “Octagon System”. The game requires only a flat surface to be played so you won’t find a game board inside. The goal is to win the race by, essentially, plotting your car’s moves as efficiently as possible. Move by shifting into the gear you desire. Go to 4th gear to move 4 spaces. Then next turn you might want to shift up to move 5 spaces, or shift down to slow down in anticipation of a turn. Each gear piece is measured accordingly. But you can only shift up or down 1 gear at a time on each turn. You can use nitro for acceleration boosts, and tire tokens to help you brake. Use them wisely, you will likely run out of them if you want to be the fastest driver at this game table. Fantastic Voyage Game Designed by: (Uncredited)Published by: Milton Bradley (1968)Players: 2 – 4Ages: 6 to 12Playing time: (unlisted) Fantastic Voyage is a game where – according to their rules insert, and I quote: player command their own combined miniaturization detection force and try to help them escape from a maze. The object of the game is to be the first player to move their team out of the maze. Four members of each team, represented by a wooden dowel painted with food coloring. Spin the spinner, and move one member of your team along the unidirectional maze. Stack up your dowels if you can, and move them together on a single spin. Opponents must land on your stack to break them back up. Move all your pieces to the finish marker and declare victory, if such a thing is possible in a game like this.
