#183 Heel hard rijden op straat

Velen van ons doen het wel eens: stiekem een beetje meer gas geven of zelfs een stukje racen op de weg. Niet slim en niet toegestaan....maar onze gast? Die doet het nagenoeg volledig professioneel én legaal. Wally Jacobs rijdt in het IRRC-kampioenschap, het International Road Racing Championship. In Nederland racet hij over het stratencircuit van Hengelo, maar net zo makkelijk ook in België, Duitsland, Tsjechië en Finland. Hij is bescheiden over zijn prestaties, maar cijfers liegen niet: afgelopen seizoen stond hij lange tijd zesde in het klassement. Helaas moest hij de laatste twee wedstrijden missen, na een ongelukkige crash tijdens een training en technisch falen in de slotrace. Op basis van die prestaties kreeg hij iets bijzonders voor elkaar: een uitnodiging om als Newcomer mee te rijden tijdens de ManxGP op de Isle of Man. De ManxGP is de poort naar de Isle of Man TT, een race die eigenlijk geen uitleg nodig heeft. Wie daar wil rijden, moet eerst hier doorheen. Inschrijven kan niet. Je moet worden uitgenodigd. Alle Newcomers worden, mits ze voldoen aan een lange lijst eisen, klaargestoomd voor die ene uitdaging: de ManxGP, dit jaar van 16 tot en met 25 augustus.
