#184: Isaiah 28-39 | The sword of the Lord is filled with blood

This is the end of "First Isaiah" or "Deutero-Isaiah". It is, as the thumbnail indicates, filled with blood. It also contains one of Joseph Smith's favorite verses from his favorite book (Isaiah), which he claimed prophesied the Book of Mormon as "a marvelous work and a wonder". (29:11-14) There are also some interesting verses about liberals, who, Isaiah says, devise liberal things and by liberal things they will stand. (32:8) Chapter 34 tells us that "the sword of the Lord is filled with blood," that mountains will melt with blood, stars will fall from the sky, and the ground will stink with dead bodies. Unicorns, dragon, and satyrs will roam through the blood-soaked land. And in Chapter 35 we are told of a highway that will pass through a land of dragons. Some Christians believe this is I 35, which extends from Laredo, Texas to Duluth, Minnesota. Fun stuff.
