Nadie pone en duda que la Tirada LARGA o Long RUN es un contenido esencial en la preparación de una maratón. Pero, ¿y para preparar un 10K de asfalto? ¿Y para preparar un 1500m? Sea 1500, sea ultra de montaña, sea maratón o 10K de asfalto, todo es deporte endurance y, en consecuencia, basado en el sistema oxidativo. Dicho sistema oxidativo se trabaja especialmente vía Long RUNS y vía alto volumen, tanto por algunas adaptaciones específicas que eso genera como (y sobre todo) porque no podemos hacer workouts o "trabajo de calidad" día sí, día también. Voy a intentar explicar la fisiología del alto volumen a baja intensidad y, sobre esa base, argumentar a favor de los Long RUNS en la preparación de cualquier distancia.
