186: Frida + Under the Same Moon

from Film Buds · host Film Buds Podcast

Hey Film Buds, here at The Film Buds Podcast there is a core belief that film, movies, cinema, las peliculas can change the world for the better, and a key part of that is making sure that fair representation exists on the screen and that people are exposed to it.For that reason, this week’s episode is dedicated to Hispanic Heritage Month and highlighting Hispanic stories on film. For those unaware, Hispanic Heritage Month begins on September 15, the anniversary of independence for Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua, and runs until October 15. Frida (2002) and Under the Same Moon (La Misma Luna) (2007), are both focus on Mexican narratives, but they are meant to be an entry point for listeners and provide different types of Hispanic narratives and experiences.Joining us in the discussion is friend of the show, and Rotten Tomatoes Certified critic, Nicolás José Delgadillo. In addition to the larger discussion we also talk about the West Side Story and Nightmare Alley trailers, what we’ve been watching, and more. Thanks as always and I hope y’all enjoy,PaulEpisode GuideTotal Runtime - 01:18:04Intro - 00:00:41Frida Clip - 00:03:20Frida Review/Discussion - 00:04:00Under the Same Moon Clip - 00:27:30Under the Same Moon Review/Discussion - 00:28:03Trailers, What We’re Watching, and Outro - 00:52:30
