187. When Missionaries in Your District Are Struggling

Hey there, mission friends! In episode 187 - When Missionaries in Your District Are Struggling, we're diving into how to support missionaries (or anyone on your team) who are struggling. As a mission coach, I know how challenging it can be to see the people you care about going through a tough time. But I've got five key strategies to help you show up as an effective leader and guide them through. First, it's so important to normalize their feelings. When someone is feeling down or discouraged, our natural tendency is to try and "fix" it. But that can actually make them feel worse. Instead, validate what they're going through by saying things like "It makes total sense that you're feeling this way." Next, avoid mirroring their emotions - if they're sad, don't get sad too. Stay grounded so you can think clearly about how to support them. And don't make assumptions about what they need. Ask questions to really understand their perspective. Finally, help them refocus on the bigger purpose. Remind them of why you're all on this journey together, and how the ups and downs are all part of the process. These strategies will empower you to lead with compassion and wisdom, even in the midst of struggle. Your people need you to show up as your best self, and these tools will help you do just that.
