Lauren had not selected the movies for an episode, so I turned the decision making process over to her, and she chose Grindhouse (2007), a fun Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino mash-up movie, featuring two films in one: Planet Terror and Death Proof. The films and their presentations are an homage to the cheaply made, high shock-value films of the 70s. Though neither of these films are made on the shoe-string of a true grindhouse film, they meticulously recreate the experience with everything from “Missing Reels” to the so-called china dolls in the end credits. They even invited guest directors Rob Zombie, Edgr Wright, and Eli Roth to direct several trailers within the film presentation.
