You are now listening to the UK and the world's favourite wrestling podcast. R.T. and wrestling with your host Andy and Emma. I mean, started.
Here we go. Live. It's the pleasure of a sound engineering for you, innit? Yeah, we've got a new set up.
I completely started again, by the way. I've not gone off on the back of it. OK, we are started. I'm going to have to delete that last bit.
Yeah, we've got a new set up. We lost a chair and we had to give this chair back. But I still don't because I'm no longer there anymore. So I gave the chair back, which was an integral part of this living room.
But I've still got all the equipment, so I've still got all the laps off and all that kind of stuff in. Yeah, weird. Yeah, and then the guy picked it up. He was like, oh, you're coming back to the office.
No. No, no, you take that chair with its barbecue sauce, you know, the crotch area. Yeah, I'm filming a race. I'm going to start running.
I'm going to see what gets a first-be-chair on me. But Andy is sat on the sofa. So I think it's going to sound a little bit different to everybody's ear rolls. It might sound a bit louder because it's a bit closer to the mic.
Oh, I just tweet me back again. Oh, you'd be careful like that. The plush. If you like this is a more intimate setting, though.
I feel like I can touch it from there. Well, we've not got a table between us. We kind of sat and eaten the armost. Don't tickle me, though, because you know I'll freak out.
Probably send the table. Touch me, touch it. I'm very ticklish. Very, very, oh shit.
Well, no, I'm shipping it away already. That's a fucking shit show, isn't it? It's a stream of conscious... It's live radio.
Fuck, I'm not really... What if we went live on a radio? We cancelled. Instantly.
I'm gonna try. Because obviously, I don't want to get cancelled for any reason if certain people hear certain things. I've listened back to some of our shows just on the skit through just to see what he sounded like and I can't stop. Sometimes my swearing in particular is ridiculous.
It's not everyone will. Absolutely love swearing. Oh, me, too. It's the best thing ever.
I really love it. As I've always said, the story I have from high school, first week of high school, I was talking to a lad I went to primary school with. I was in primary school. I was in primary school.
We barely spoke then. high school and I stood outside and I went, I'm really nervous and he just looked at me and then looked away and then I just musted up my courage and I went, I'm really fucking nervous and you went, all right I'm as well and I was like, that's how you get voices talking. That's how you get them to talk. So that was me at 11 and then I never looked back.
Is that how you're weird to me that I swear, not me? I don't even know if it necessarily was just a boy thing, I think it was just I thought I actually managed to have a conversation with a lot more people when I started to swear, it's like they had a weird respect. That's a state school for you that. I don't think that'd fly in a grammar.
Well I always respect people more when they swear, whether that's like bosses at work or teachers or like, well they just throw a little cuss in there. Particularly the F word, when someone drops cuz I'm like right. It's a gold balls out and see it up. I am well on board.
This is true, yes definitely. Obviously it's not a lot of people who are. No I wouldn't replace whether that was an acceptable word. Where was that?
I don't want to say anything like business anymore but the agency that I got, yeah, they didn't like that. Wow, and that's a smartly glass region, it's a term of a more of a dim and I think it's not as bad as the F word in Glasgow. The C word. I mean I just think it's great.
And like anybody who gets offended by a word, that doesn't have like connotations of racism or homophobia. You know, get a grippy self for God's sake. I don't know. It's just another word for a vagina.
It's just another word for an ex wound. I don't like that. I think it's more your reaction to it. Oh my god.
It's awful. I've said this before to you but I don't know if I said it on the podcast but the most nasty thing, the nastiest way I've heard of a vagina described is when my parents took me to watch Roy Chubby Brown and I was 15 years old, not quite knowing I don't think that it was going to be quite that big. You've got to know you've got to know you've got to know that you don't see him. I think they kind of seen him and it was me uncle was over for himself, Africa.
So they were like, oh, that'll be a fun thing to do. It was really fucking scroats as you could imagine. And I just remember him saying, have you ever looked at it after you've shagged it? It looks like a rock while with its mouth full of mayonnaise and it's burning to my fucking brain.
Oh, Jesus. It's the most disgusting thing I think I've ever fucking heard. What boy did I laugh? How are you all laughed as a family?
What a great bonding experience. If I had done something like that when I was a parent, I'd start like cringing me. Well, we just laughed. It was so inappropriate.
Everything about it. So when he was doing the sex jokes and the misogyny, I'm alright with that but he is quite racist. I think a plane had crashed in France. He was making jokes about that and he was struggling but he's apparently a very intelligent man.
Well, he's just playing to his crowd. It's not a moment with any of these guys. He's a public school boy. He's a public school boy.
He's a percentage of you. Pushing down, which you should never do. Don't push down. Always punch up.
Well, you're doing anyway. Taking a sip of your wine there. Yeah, I'm doing really good. I sound quite off my tits but I've literally just had my first couple of sips of wine.
I think I'm just quite giddy to be doing the pop-up. Yeah, it's a distraction. From not only everything that's going on in the world, specifically one area. Just day to day.
Disraction. Yeah, I know. It's been working hard. It's been hard.
I've done jack shit which is the reason why I'm having a panic attack. But you know, there's nothing like the term manana to get you through the night. I've got a hard work week. It's really hard this week.
It's only been stressed this week. Yeah, really stressed. Really wrestling wise. Not watched a lot.
I kind of skipped through dynamite. Had to rampage on the background then whilst trying to find some sort of news, things to go on. It's seen a lot of things that have happened. Speaking of Cena.
Cena. I've got nothing on Cena. You've got himself. It's a bit of trouble for tweeting about the Ukraine situation.
He said, no, is he going to have to apologise to him in Ukrainian? I'm sure he will. He said, if I could summon the powers of hashtag peacemaker, I think now would be a really good time to do it. People thought it was important because he's plugging his show.
Oh yeah. Something that's really quite sick. Yeah, yeah. Well, this is a thing.
I'm not going to leave us down this row because it could get incredibly negative and quickly. But the amount of crap, and that's me trying to rein it in on swearing that I've seen just from when I'm trying to find out what's going on. Because I'm not a big news guy. News depresses me.
It puts me in a funk. I can't do it. But for some reason with this particular thing, I want to know everything that's going on. Yeah, you've been quite weird on this because you're not usually interested in world events.
You know what it is. Let me put my laptop down. I'm going to go here. What I think it is, is this feels like a real situation.
Whereas everything else isn't a real situation. Like this is the only time when I feel like a lot of people are like unified in their view. There's a lot of people that aren't and they can go fuck themselves. This feels like it's a real situation.
Whereas every time you put the news on, they're going about COVID or they're going about this or they're going about that, is they don't actually know what's happening and they don't have the facts to back anything up. So that's why idiots can claim misinformation. Whereas in this instance, we've got video footage. So there's no dispute.
Despite what they say about there being no casualties and all this kind of rubbish, you can't dispute it. So it's not it's fact, it's fact, it's not conjecture. So I want to know what's going on because it may affect a lot of people. It may affect us at some point, depending on how far it'll go.
But God, the amount of idiots that I just like, I've seen, you know, I see a few things, but people have written. So this is a call to everybody and anybody I'm talking to right now isn't a part of this. But if you're going to retweet something that's like positive, so this is the most, this is the most annoying thing. And it's to me, and it's such a, it's such a bad thing to think.
I think it's driving me mad. So, you know, there's certain like media outlets and stuff which you can go to and get your news and that kind of stuff. But I've seen so many people. And again, you can say this is a good thing.
You know, publicly, like public accounts and stuff like that or influencers and that kind of thing wanting to show their solidarity about Ukraine. So, so tweeting something like, you know, oh, you know, this is awful, you know, whatever, whatever. The reason why I've not done that is because you're a thirsty bitch. And I've seen so many people who are like fucking tweeting like, you know, their own like political statement about how bad it is.
But the only reason why they're doing it is to get retweets. And it's like, you've, you've discussed it. Like, I just, I don't know why it annoys me so much. But just the fact that they're, and they're like, I've seen a couple on it because I actually went on home trying to try and find some news.
But I've seen a couple and the accounts that they're coming from are like influencers style accounts. And I'm like, right, okay, so you're, you're trying to get retweets of likes off the back of death. Like that is completely unacceptable to me. So I just blocked that account.
So I'm never going to see again. But if anybody is like, you know, see something, that's a really good statement about Ukraine, think I'm going to retweet it just think about where it's coming from and why it's being said. Like, I know that's tough because you know, the more positive things you see, the better. But these influencers who will probably in their next tweet are the tits out or their cocks out or abs or whatever it is, you know, doing something like that.
They're doing it for a reason. They're doing it because they want to be, they want to have the tweet that has like, you know, a thousand retweets. It's disgusting. Absolutely.
I mean, social media is awful. Yeah. Well, it was the same thing with like, life's matter movement. And it was, people were sharing, you know, there was one in particular, people were sharing.
If you guys want to actually make a difference, donate some money and do this, do that. And I'm sort of waiting to for an official, I don't know where it's going to come from. I don't trust the Red Cross. So I'm like, I don't want to give the Red Cross.
Oh, yeah, yeah. But I want to be able to give some money to a proper cause about going to go to some people. I know there is one called like, choose, no, I don't trust Red Cross. I just don't.
There was a big like, I feel like I read something about it and it was an expose. I just, I'm just, I struggle with charities because I know that it goes on top salaries. Yeah, we know, we know. So it's like, I just want money to go straight to people.
Well, fortunately, there tends to be a middleman who takes a massive cut of it. And as a huge, huge inflated salary and it's like, I don't want to pay for someone's bonus. Thank you very much. If you see a Kickstarter, knock it out.
I want to go for me. Yeah. Because they're, they're obviously a middleman that's like a court. Well, the court is so minimal.
Yeah, it's just really hard when it comes to stuff like that. But yeah, I get, yeah, I totally get, yeah. I liked what, that's what I'm sharing about like places to get your legitimate news. Yeah, totally.
I fact, I thought that is like a, that's important because there's so much fake shit going on. You don't really know what you're looking at. But, um, yeah, I just kind of stuck with the BBC. BBC is one of them.
And I do trust him. I know like people wang on about the BBC at the moment. I don't know about the better license when you can't trust him. But it's like, they're the only ones you can.
Everyone else is commercial. So it's like the very least, you know, it's if you, if you don't like them, the best of a bad one. Yeah. And if they lie or they do something wrong, it's out of a steak.
And they're held accountable as well. So yeah, God, we're going very political. That's enough. Like when you're trying to find out what's happening and you've got some fucking like tween who's like going, you know, it's quite quite a profound statement, but it's blatantly copied and pasted from somebody else just to get retweets.
And it's like, wow, you're capitalizing it on a, not just a bad situation because it happens all the time. And the jessalnick thing on his thing of, you know, don't forget about me today. Yeah, and I've got a lot of stuff back in, but don't forget how sad I am. You know, it's very funny.
And I do agree with it. And it's why I've pulled off social media completely, because it doesn't matter what you post, like I got myself into a situation. This might be, you know, looking at it too strongly, but everything I posted, like I went through like, you know, because Instagram was the last thing to, to survive, you know, and I've not posted on Instagram for like a year, year and a half maybe. But that was the last thing that I was still posting.
I won post on Facebook because I was sick of the cesspool. Yeah, terrible. Oh, God, just you can still want it to speak to my dad because he uses Facebook messenger a lot. And I know I can just stuff Facebook messenger, but I don't like having apps on my phone.
I don't need any ads. Well, you're mixed with your dad and dad and cat. That's it. I think.
Yeah. Yeah. And so I only see that. Oh, I follow Jeff Chris Jericho's.
I just wrestling news that comes from his like weird, you know, it's like a media house or something. Yeah, it's like a media website. Yeah, but it kind of like the kind of sources. I don't know what you call that show.
I don't know. I don't know. But yeah, so the whole reason why I look to all the posters like, okay, what's the reason why you post it? And every single time when I boiled it down, it was to get likes and or to show off and it show off is strong.
It's a strong thing to say. But that's what you're doing when you put your holiday for and this isn't not me, you know, saying that nobody should do that because I understand how much of a strong I can take you on it. But it's like, what, what are you doing this for? Like, why am I posting a picture of me on a golf course to people that I've not spoke to in like 15 years?
Well, we both kind of came to that realization, didn't we just like we're doing this for you know, when we get like at the end of the day on holiday, we both sort of like sitting in our hotel room, like, we just like just uploaded to Instagram. We both sit there like in silence. I know we could be having fun. You know, instead of fun.
You know, instead of like inviting fucking randomers on me holiday two weeks every day, just posting it. It's so weird. I'm doing I suppose I do the podcast as a massive pose in itself. So maybe we're we're it is it is and I do enjoy myself.
Yeah, I'm not trying to get famous Jesus. No, but yeah, that's a random round. Well, I think it's one of them where we've not been kind of towing around the subject, like just in our own lives. But you know, it's got to be said on it because it's a fucking awful time.
Yeah, it's terrible. You know, I are very strong views on what we should be doing. But you know, it knows what's going on. Well, I'm just wait, I'm just going to be able to send some some some some cashiche in the right direction rather than hope and prayers to people.
Anybody who says right and this is another thing. And again, I understand if people are religious, all all power to you, brilliant. But but so like individual saying saying, Oh, you know, my prayers are with you, Craig, I don't really mind about but again, they're doing it to say don't forget about me. It's when like celebrities or people like like fucking presidents of like countries and all this kind of stuff and you know, say, Oh, our prayers, it's like what's that kind of do?
It's like that that Ukrainian president, literally put a pair of boots on and gave out 18,000 rifles. Let's go. Did you hear what you said in reference to America offering to get him out? I saw that he just refused.
He just said we don't need a lift. We need ammo. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's just what Joey used to be apparently used to be like quite famous Ukrainian comedian.
Hmm. Yeah, yeah. So they've got a comedian who's the president. The mayor is ex heavyweight well champion, Klitschko.
They're not backwards. I just I hope that I just don't I hope that well, slowing them down. So yeah, I think that's all they can do. Anyway, let's get off that because it's not really so before we start the show, I've got silly question for you from Chris, Eric, think what Chris is always a person you can kind of rely on stupid questions, but not stupid is in like he's stupid.
Just he's a silly guy and very funny. So he is asked to just go back. Just season up a bit. So I just want to.
Oh yeah. Do you want your little poop? Yes, please. Can I just do that without him?
I just need you to pull it and I can then get Jesus Christ all falls apart. Right. Okay. Let's just feel better.
So he's actually got a few buyers on this from other people's which I'll have a look at. So we put what else could Tony Khan's announcement be as outlandish and as silly as you can get. An actual J. Murray pie first will go for him first and he's put under taker as a new AWGM, which I thought was quite good.
Oh, so Khan Masters is given as one which will get to it a second, which is no serious. So as he given one. Oh yeah. A new reality TV show following him in the jungle working title.
She can. He loves his pawns. No, no, no, he's funny. So I thought it should be an if we're going for silly answers.
Tony Khan on Dynamite this Wednesday grabs a mic and says WrestleMania 38. It'll be me and a mystery partner against Vince McMahon and Nick Khan. So Vince McMahon and Nick Khan come out with you all a little bit. Some barbs.
Tony Khan comes out to the Dynamite music lights go out and a thrown up here's on the stage. A broken thrown broken throat thrown up here's on the stage and everyone thinks, oh, maybe this is Cody. No, it's the fucking game. Outcomes triple H triple H has got a whole NXT branded knuckle dusters and he shoots all over Vince's face.
Blood's everywhere. Nick and Tony don't even get in the ring. Vince is covered in blood. He goes into business for himself properly pedigrees him and just walks away and you never see Triple H again.
Oh yeah. I love that. That's my stupidest. I don't know about love it because it means a very old man is going to get brutalised.
But you know, maybe he deserves it for what he's done to next thing. It's debatable, isn't it? It's arguable. Chris has also said, Tony Khan comes out with proof that the world is flat.
Go on. Not so. So he can't introduce as the deepest title to A. W.
I've got a more dresser for it. And he says, you think I don't give the women enough attention. Well, there you go. For the first match.
If you look, but you can't touch. Out the come. Yeah. He signed them all.
He signed them all for leaving Marie's there. He signed them all. Oh my God, you're lurking here. You're divas.
Yeah. It's a reality show. Oh God, more A. W.
Mud wrestling. It's like the new YouTube show. I'd like it to be done as seriously as though it's an ultimate fighter. I thought you were going to say Raw on the ground then.
Oh my God. Well, yeah, even better. Well, the round ground. We need to take a minute to always, always remember Raw on the ground.
That's when I tapped out completely. Yeah. Yeah. That was, you know what?
I just feel like I remember seeing that. I don't remember seeing it after it. But from this year's Royal Rumble. And that was shit.
I just don't know what was going on. But I knew at the time as it was happening that you need to drink this in because you're not going to see this real because it's such a poor, right? It's fucking Shane again. We're not going to find his ass.
You know what I love him for trying. He fucking properly properly invests and he goes balls deep and he's like, I'm doing that with Shane's idea. It was, yeah, of course it was. Do you know what I mean?
Coming out about it was Shane McMahon's thing like it was his thing. More on the ground. Yeah. Because he's alive.
That man is alive into the year 2000 still. Like he's never evolved. His wardrobe hasn't evolved. His attitude on it.
He lives there. That's where he lives. And he wants to just bring some of that magic. Smack Naughty's magic.
I was done so as the thing is. Any of these mad ideas could have probably worked if you treated him properly. Yeah. Instead of just getting like, you know, Braun Strowman to just like kill people.
He's like poor Dolph Ziggler's out. He's unsated. See, the thing with it is like I thought the ring without the ropes was a really good idea. I was like, got to something in that.
And then I watched like, I can't remember what I was like flicking up round like wrestling shows and all this kind of stuff. And I saw that Suzuki was doing Josh Barnet's blood spot. And I was like, okay. Oh, yeah.
I just found out I used to like watching fight. And he was like blood sports seven or something like that. I heard of it. But I weren't really that interested.
I was like, I'm not really bothered about that. But blood sports started before Raw Underground. And guess what they haven't got? Ring ropes.
Okay. And I was like, these motherfuckers every time, every time they come up with an idea, somebody else's idea. But I did watch one blood sports show and I thought it was fantastic. Because it was like, it's like MMA rules, but it's wrestling.
Right. So knockouts and submissions and well, there's always submissions. Wait, what was it real? No, it's not real.
Okay. So it's professional wrestling. But the worker spot where somebody looks like they've been on a tenon. Okay, I see.
But they go for ten minutes wrestling. And it's a lot more like map based, obviously, because they've not got any ropes. But yeah, I thought it was really interesting. I don't know how much I would go back and watch another one.
But I guess like there's a lot of, I'm always a little pit and I don't know if everyone relieved about this. But I am quite surprised because of how closely linked wrestling is with stunt work. I'm always surprised that they don't merge those two a bit more. Just in, you know, I know they do do shoot fights.
Like, well, not shoot. But you know, make it look like it's a proper fight. I don't know. I can't really describe it.
All I can think of now is, which might happen if Disney buy him is, you know, big fucking Indiana Jones ball rolling down. I was just about to say Indiana Jones like live experience. Only cars. We went and watched that Indiana Jones show when we were over in America.
And we've seen it like a couple of times. And it's like a couple of times a day. And I'm like, you can do that eight times a day to do it. I can't, you know, like, I would be interested, right?
If you're, I'd be interested in watching WWE again, if it went fucking campus shit, if it was like, it's gonna be fire, there's gonna be someone that's gonna come down in a big hoop from the ceiling. You'd be interested in what? If it turned into like PT Barnum's fucking circus, I'd be up for it. I'd be like brilliant.
I'd be like, I'm not gonna be a fucking horse riding around the ring. 100% because it's like, it's, it wants to go there so bad. I feel like you want to make it camper. But they're doing it too slow.
It's like you're establishing a wrestling show anymore. And you, but you need to, there needs to be something more. We want more. We need, they got rid of the magic.
Why, why get rid of the magic? Well, the thing with it is, is it's not got, the problem is they've not got rid of the magic. It's just what they do. It's like if you went and see Penn and Teller and every trick failed.
Like that's, that's the situation you're in because you've got Alexa, but let's be talking to a adult that everybody is what I've seen unless you, you know, you fantasizing over her, even though she's acting like a 12 year old kid. So get a grippy self's lads and win in a better way and find, you know, it is, if it's poorly done, it's not going to be good. And that's, that's the issue with WWE right now is everything I say is so poorly done. Johnny Knoxville is potentially going to be there intercontinental champion.
You know, I've got a thing in a bit about, about Vince. It just, it's like, you know, it's not worth going into. So to me, you're all night, chapel it apart. If it's not, it's like, I don't really fucking camp.
I'll be back. I'll be back. What do you mean my camp though? I mean, like, as though I'm watching a movie with, with real villains and fire and fucking magic and people can spin it in.
They're not going to do it well. Like the sort of something. Or comes down on like a bit of material like spinning round. Yes, yes, yes, now getting it.
You're now getting it. That's what I'm like. Joe just wanted to go there. The only thing that can save WWE in my eyes is a complete changing leadership.
What does a Disney bio look to you? Like to you Disney bio Disney, but Disney like, you know what, we actually want to get a bit creative with you guys. Um, what does it look like? I mean, it would be very family friendly, but this is a thing like, you know, people were annoyed when WWE went from the archery there.
It's a ruthless aggression. So now the PG era, if anything is done well, it's still good. Like I'm, you know, a big Disney fan. I like those films.
If it's done well, and it's done coherently, it can be good. But they constantly shoot themselves in the foot. Disney bio for me, I think, would be Disney owned them and they get all the profit, but Vince and all the cronies are still in charge. They're not going to put like, you know, they're a couple of their underlings is the CEOs.
They might, they might stick a person on the board, but they're not going to get involved in day to day operations. It's not going to happen. Don't think maybe Hercules or like, come into it. Oh, see, now you're living, living in dreamland.
But maybe he'll be more interested in that, especially if it was the old school Channel five Hercules. You know, I'm talking about the TV show. It was made by the same people that made Zina Warrior Princess. Oh, okay.
You know, I'm a laggy. No, I don't. I never watched it. I never watched it.
I never watched it either for shame. I didn't mind them. I didn't mind them. I wouldn't say I was a fan, but I didn't mind them.
Chris has given us a few more. And this is literally within the last minute. He's discovered a cure for the common cold, but because he's not told the network about it, they're annoyed. Yeah.
He's announced it. Oh, no. It's a surprise that he's cured the common cold. Tony versus Nick in a can on a pole match.
What's the boat? To me, to me, that's got to be Tony and Nick are the ones on the pole. And you've got Omega against Roman Reigns and whoever wins gets their can down first. That'd be funny.
No one. He's moving full onto Dailey's place. Like QPR, a local derby is going to get a lot more a lot further away. But yeah, I do like your bringing about the Divas title and just literally exactly the same design.
Instead of WWE, it's got the WWE logo and it's a slightly different color. I think for prosperity, they should include some like permanent cum splatter on it. So if you remember, oh God, that was no, that was an NXT title on it. I was it was it not the Divas.
I don't think so. Maybe it was as well. Just like, just like, just like, just like, just on the side. Just but just, just not me shaming her.
She's a fucking legend. But like, I love that. I love that she got some on to Giz on that title. The queen.
Giz on the fucking title. You're a little bitch. Come on, Brad. Oh my God.
Oh my God. So much better, I don't know what you're thinking. Should we start the show? I'm feeling so dippy.
Oh God. I mean, it's gonna be a good one. It's just like for a run today. It's them end off and well, in just to give you a rundown about Adam for the last 48 hours, it's all alden ring.
Oh, yes. That is some game. It's so odd though. I'm stuck on the boss with all the arms.
I can't remember what his name is. Well, you met boss before and I watched two episodes of a show and you was still doing it after it. I've got close a couple of times and I've resorted to start getting in the NPC, but that's not worked. I just I get him down to the same amount of health.
So it's like a quarter health left and it doesn't matter if I'm on my own. It doesn't matter if I summon an NPC. It doesn't matter if I have my own spirit summons. He's always got a quarter of his health bar left and I'm out of flasks and it's game over.
You know, I've not the last the last thing I could resort to is summoning in actual players that I've already beat him because I don't I've never done that on any of the games, but I tend to be after I've beaten a boss. I'll put a few summon signs down to help other people because usually by the time I've beaten that boss, I've put like three hours into it. I've learnt the moveset and I can dodge around it. But this like I just can't get a grasp of his moveset.
There's only two where I can effectively counter everything else I'm like, especially when he gets that dragon head on his arm. Anyway, here's what it is. Do you want to start the show? Let's do it.
I can't take a little drink first. Hello everyone and welcome once again to Atia Wrestling. This is episode 189 and are we creeping closer to creeping closer? I mean, we always say we're going to do things for certain milestones we never do.
So I'm not going to do now. I'm not going to say we're going to do anything for 200 and if it happens it happens. When a week where Jericho's accused of having fake abs, Madcap Moss didn't die, Vince is back in training and again, Sonny has arrested. We're here to talk about the week in professional wrestling.
So I hope you're all good, hope you're all well, hope you're all staying safe and welcome to the show. I'm not going to tell you where to get it because you're hearing me now. You know where to get it. It's all over Spotify, Apple podcasts, whatever it is that you want to get it on.
But what you might not know, if you stumble across this is if you've stumbled across it and you still are now, thank you very much. But we are on Twitter. So I'm wrestling, come and join in. Many people do all the time read out pretty much everybody unless you're an idiot.
And that's that. So let's get to sweets, to start. Well, I was all introduced as well. My name is Andy and German and welcome to the show, everybody.
So first up, we've got Axel, Jamie, what's put? What do you think of the Revolution card? Well, we'll go through the resolution card at some points again. You know, you can't really say you can't really say much about what you're going to expect and kind of things all right through that.
But he thinks it's stacked again. What do you want to see pop pan outs between Brian and Mox? I think this new era of Brock Lesnar is actually pretty good. Seems to have seems to have aged where he's now caught promos on a robotic like I mean, just a quick thing on the other thing.
Funny when you give somebody their own personality. Just just saying, just saying. I think sometimes AEW give everybody a chance so much that they don't give their big hitters the time they should get. Which I completely agree with.
So let's go through him and kind of order in. So, um, Revolution card, we'll get to a second. Brian and Moxley, it's tough really because the thing that I have with AEW is they are the matches are easy to predict because 99 times out of 100, the person going into the match that should win it wins it. So when you're in that situation, it's hard to kind of get as excited about the matches themselves as maybe all the shows, but it doesn't take away from all fantastic.
They are the one thing I can't get my head around is where things go. And most of the time, you know, you've got 10 different scenarios that you could come up with and it could be any one of those 10. And who knows the thing with with Mox and Brian is I don't know if they've thought that far ahead at this point because it does seem quite thrown together. Do I think it's about things to throw together?
Absolutely not. It's amazing and the match will be fantastic. But where they go from there is I can't see Moxley winning, but I do think he should be the one to win it. But I just can't see it.
But I mean, where would I want to see it go? I would want to see really, if I'm honest. And again, I always drag it back to this company in some way, but I think obviously Moxley before the pandemic was very engaged with New Japan, then Brian, obviously the whole reason why he left WWE is because he wants to wrestle for New Japan. So those two can be the gateway between people coming in and out.
Obviously, you know, JY we spoke about last week about how the I felt that was kind of an underutilized thing. Because if that was on AWTV, what was on impact this this last couple of weeks, it would have been massive, but nobody really cares about this Hollywood branch of the bullet club as far as I can tell. But you know, a lot of people might do, but nobody watches impact. So doesn't really have to say appeal.
So that's what I would like to see with it is a new Japan element where they're bringing in some of the younger new Japan stars and doing it with them. Because obviously, I don't think they need to give the time to like you Daniel Garcia's they can't at the moment. Obviously, Brian's wrestling and all that kind of stuff. But you know, when you look at young gay w stars, that's the one thing categorically nobody can dispute is how well they are treating their young stars.
Britt Baker never loses. MJF always does a spot hardly ever loses. You know, a jungle boy is more than likely going to go into a massive program with Christian KJ after this because the T's in that five way from Sunday. So that'll be huge, which jungle boy will probably come out of as the winner.
Sorry Cassidy, Cassidy, you know, always gets a big spot. Hook is probably the most over wrestling history wrestling at this moment in time for doing the least about the store. So the young guys I don't have an issue with. What I do have an issue with is the older guys, which is kind of what you're saying about, you know, trying to give everybody a chance.
I'll go to you first with this is do does everybody get in a crack at the whip means that, you know, the top guys are getting the time that they need or deserve and would potentially boost on the ratings. Yeah, I mean, it's I mean, I've not watched wrestling this week. I've had a one of them busy weeks, but I kind of like getting an eye on what's I know what's happened and all that. But I was thinking about you the other day, because they're so you know, it's all it's it's wrestling focused as it should be.
I'm starting to find that I'm a myth. There's an element that's dying to be a bit missing now because they are giving everyone a shot as they showed and got so many people who they need to and promise that when signed on it. But what's what I'm sort of seeing is like a rinsed cycle of very short programs that people go into and then they go into another great one. And it's all again, it's that it's it's done for the whole just for wrestling for I'm best, let's wrestle and then they go into the next one with a great person and there's great promos going on, there's great work going on.
But I feel like there's not really much room for many people to have a really long term story. Like Hangman was probably the longest, like the biggest payoff that you can't do for everyone to know. But I do think that the more people they have, the less they're going to be able to do that, where they have someone over the course of a year, like leading up to a pay for you, having a big moment because it's also rapid and so quick because they have to keep giving people these satisfying matches that keeps them, you know, they wanted when they signed with you. It's like, you know, Brian Danielson has literally done so much since he's been there.
He's not really been in a big programme. Like there's nothing where, you know, if they were say, wanted to double or nothing was going to be like, is that their mania? It's like their biggest one. There's nothing going into it that he's done, where I could go, oh, he's definitely going to go against that guy because of something he planted back here.
It's all just been very sort of play it week by week. And I don't know whether that's like, maybe it's two things, well, it's a lot of things for the Khan. He's got to think about, you know, he's thinking about ratings and putting together these like matches with these top people and constantly keeping the crowd interested. And he's got the rest of us to think about.
We want to be kept interested and want to do as much shit as possible. And when you get someone like Brian Danielson, you want to use him and you've got so many people on that roster who would benefit from being in a match with him for their own development and for their own star to grow. So it's hard. But that's what's lacking a bit for me at the moment.
I just feel like a double or nothing will feel like it'll be put together a month before. And I just want to see some more long term shit paying off. I'm not saying they don't do it at all, but it's not enough for me. Yeah.
Yeah. That's where I'm at. I don't know whether that even goes to the question, but that's kind of like that was my thoughts that I've been having on AW. And it's kind of one of the reasons why I've been okay missing the odd show, because there's not really been a continuation of story that I've been intrigued about.
I want to see how it plays out and I want to see where they're up to with it. 100% with you. And that's pretty much what I was going to say, because the thing I have with AW at the moment is it's a high quality wrestling show that seems to have way too many people. So them cuts are going to start coming without a doubt.
Peter Avalon and Ziggler's brother make plans. But the thing that we had with AW, maybe six to 12 months ago, when it was new and it was fresh, it was like, Oh my God, this is the show for us. I do feel like it's lost. And I don't think for any reason it's bad or anything like that, it's still really the only wrestling show that I'm watching.
I still enjoy myself while I'm watching it. But they don't have what made it great back in, you know, just during the pandemic and just after. Because when you sign so many people, they've kind of got themselves and it's the reason why we're joking about the Tony Khan announcement and all that kind of stuff and we'll get to Calistoy in a second. Just remind me that just in case I forget.
When you sign in so many people, you kind of, and you're saying it like pretty much every week that there's a major announcement. And there is really like, you know, signing Keith Lee or, you know, Jeff running his mouth, you know, which we'll get to. These are all big deals. They're not crap announcements.
They're good announcements. But the problem with doing them every week is they stop becoming special and they start in the norm. So you'll see, you know, like this announcement that he's got is you know, you're saying it's up there at the same level as the first answer when seeing Paul return. There's nothing I can think of that would meet that level of excitement.
Like regardless of what you think of C&Punk and what he's done since, which is, you know, I think it's been pretty good. But there's nothing that can get that level of excitement out of our crowd. Him walking out and getting that evasion is to me a once in a lifetime thing. Like, you know, you're not for him.
Like, you know, you know, you know, you want to go. I don't think he would have got that response in WWE because he wouldn't have been in Chicago. He would have been in some random city because they don't put the effort in. So at least today, you'll be still putting effort in, which I like.
But the problem with having all these stars sign is you've only got a certain amount of time. Like, Andre are they is getting harder any time and he's losing to Sami Guevera in a T&C time much this week, which shouldn't be happening because he's a big to me, he's a big deal. Malakai Black has now been relegated to the leader of a cult group, which what are they doing? Who's in it?
Well, it's Buddy Matthew who's turned up last week and Brody King. So he's just around. Like, they've got a lot of people who when they first signed were like, right, this, this guy's gonna be a big time deal. Because I was thinking when black came in, it's like, right, he's gonna be able to jump in at some point, maybe not straight away, but at some point, he is.
But now he's not now that star power has dropped considerably, in my view from Malakai, because they're just not on anything with him. And does that mean it's a bad thing? You know, is it the wrong thing to do in this situation? No, I don't think it is.
Because since then you've had C and Pong, you've had Brian Daniels, and you've had Adam Cole turn up and you've got your pillars like your MJF's Sami Guevera, you know, that can't can't not be on the show. They have to be on the show. So then you're looking at people like Miro, like whether Fox Miro, like he's he's not been even on TV for a couple of months. Is he injured?
Is he not? Who knows? They've not even been doing vignettes for him. So maybe Miro's thinking I'm out of here because I'm not getting the spot that I've because he could have been able to be champion and he did nothing wrong.
I mean, he was doing his C and C title stuff and all that kind of business, the Redeemer, it was all good stuff. But that's been relegated now, because of you've done your Brian's and you see him pong. So then you have to think about it was like, okay, well, what would you rather have? Would you rather have Miro or would you rather have Daniel Brian?
And he said, well, of course, you're going to go for now, Brian, Daniel, so I don't worry about that. You're going to be sniffing all the way through this. Now you've got a Brian Daniel sitting there, you have to use him on the show because he's Brian Daniel sitting there. The crowd, what is the crowd?
That's the problem with your big money signings. You kind of have to trot them out at your show because they paid their money. And if they don't see CM Punk or Brian Daniel, son, at least for the first year that they're signed, they're going to be disappointed. You've got to get they've got to be in something.
And then you're thinking about like, if the crowd are like wanting to see hook, you've got to try them out, you've got you don't have to, obviously, you know, WWE proof, you don't have to serve the fans and give them everything they want. But I think when it comes to those big signings, that's the expectation when people buy tickets, that's why their tickets have gone crazy and selling like hotcakes because of sign those people. So you have to use them. And that does mean that it takes away from other people.
And you might not have a plan for those two people, like you might have a program for them, but we've got to just have something. And you know, Punk was coming out and just chatting for a bit. And it's like, no, we've got people, we've got a game wrestling now, he's got to do something. So And arguably the Punk MGF stuff has been fantastic.
But I still don't think it's got the same weight as, you know, as other storylines. Like, I don't really care. Even see, this is the bad thing. So MGF's promo on Wednesday was fantastic.
Anybody who says it isn't isn't being truthful, because he was crying in all sorts, but the change in the dynamics, so that's that's a face promo. And at the end, he completely turned the crowd in the crowd role clapping him when he was finished. So how are you going to boom now? Well, it's very easy to work around that because this week, MGF can beat simple and copy you're booming again.
You know, he's not going to, he's not, they're not going to turn the best heel there is at the moment without a doubt. You know, face, they're just not going to do it. It'd be as stupid as maybe taking a really, really over female superstar and turning a heel. It'd be that stupid.
You just couldn't even get your head around it if anybody did that. But that jazzed me out of the rivalry, because I don't AW does such a good job of it being person to person. Like, I'm a better wrestler than you. This is what it's going to be.
Now, when they're bringing in the personal lives and all that kind of stuff, it's like they're trying to do the WWE thing and they're doing it better. But that jazzed me out of it because I'd rather sit in that segment, if I'm being honest, I'd rather have seen CM Punk wrestle, MJF beat down afterwards. It's not going to get as many, as many new stories or anything like that. But MJF comes out and he does a 10 minute promo where he's crying because he said CM Punk was his hero.
And then Punk comes out and goes, is that true? And he's like, yeah, he just leaves the ring. Is that what's going on here? Are you guys going to kiss?
You guys just kiss. It's like, what's what, you know, I don't, I don't quite get me around the certain decisions that I'm making, but the making decisions based on, you know, future puzzles are just fine. But the whole thing at the moment is they've got too many people. So not everyone can get on.
You know, Lance Archer after having that amazing match, Texas Test match again has disappeared. You know, there's a lot of people on that roster that were doing fantastic work, but have been relegated because of people that have come in. And you know, they're always going to have to. If CM Punk is available, you've got to try and get him if you can.
If Daniel Bryan or Bryan Danielson is available, you've got to try and get him if you can. So to me, the solution unfortunately is they need more TV time. Well, it seems so. It seems like that's the only thing at the moment.
If they actually want to use all of them, they need longer shows. We get into like, a three hour show though. Because that's the issue. Because, you know, I've seen a lot of backlash for that because I was kind of thinking, I kind of look to see if anyone's saying something.
It's like, oh, you've got dark and dark elevation. Like, listen, the most insanely into it, fam, isn't watching dark and dark elevation every week. They might do it every now and again, but they ain't consistently watching dark and dark elevation because the five minute squash matches, they're not, you know, there's some storyline elements with like some of the bigger stars like, you know, I always see pictures of like Peter Avalon, like having loads of time. That's all well and good.
