19 Cats and Counting Episode 165 Purr-fectly Published: Ruth Thaler-Carter on Cats, Content & CWA

On this episode of 19 Cats and Counting, Rita welcomes Ruth Thaler-Carter, a longtime journalist, freelance writer, editor, and owner of Writer Ruth (writerruth.com). Ruth shares how she built a successful career in writing and editing, offers advice for aspiring freelance writers, and discusses the ever-changing world of publishing. As the current Blog Chair for the Cat Writers' Association (CWA), Ruth also talks about the organization's mission to support and encourage excellence in cat-related writing, photography, art, and content creation. Rita and Ruth discuss the upcoming Cat Writers' Association Conference, taking place in Dallas on November 6–7, and explain why it's a valuable event for anyone who creates cat-related content. The conversation also highlights an important opportunity for writers and creators: you do not have to be a CWA member to enter the Annual Cat Writers' Association Contest. Non-members are welcome to submit eligible work for consideration. They also encourage everyone, whether a member or not, to visit and enjoy the CWA blog, which features informative articles and resources for cat lovers and content creators alike. Whether you're a writer, editor, content creator, or simply passionate about cats, this episode offers inspiration, practical advice, and a behind-the-scenes look at one of the cat world's most respected organizations.
