Muhammad didn’t receive his first revelation until he was 40, starting an action packed 12 years of ministry until his death. But what came before that?

There is little on Muhammad’s first 40 years, not dissimilar to the pre-ministry days of Jesus. And what is there, it really is impossible to tell legend from fact from hagiography.

Regardless of what you want to call it, there are a few good stories about Muhammad before his ministry. Here are my top 5:

Unpacking Islamophobia The Bridge Initiative The Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding was founded in 1993 by an agreement between the Fondation pour L'Entente entre Chretiens et Musulmans, Geneva and Georgetown University to build stronger bridges of understanding between the Muslim world and the West as well as between Islam and Christianity. The Center's mission is to improve relations between the Muslim world and the West and enhance understanding of Muslims in the West. Philosophy of Religion Oxford University This series of eight lectures delivered by Dr T. J. Mawson at the University of Oxford in Hilary Term 2011, introduces the main philosophical arguments pertaining to the Western monotheistic religions: Judaism, Christianity and Islam. Each lecture has an associated hand-out (two for the first lecture). Emmaus Ministries Pastor Cyrus The Road to Emmaus is a rather little known story in the Gospels (Injeel). The Iranian-American founder of Emmaus Ministries had a dream that he was Seeing through the eyes of Jesus...Which matches the story of Emmaus. Since then he has become a Christian and left Islam. Please be aware that he Is still in the closet to avoid being murdered for Apostasy from Islam. He goes by the name Pastor Cyrus. YES Abroad Malaysia Capstone ‘18-‘19 Sejal For my YES Abroad Capstone I interviewed four individuals about their lives and how religion has affected their decisions and perspectives. I used five of the questions in this podcast to create a compare and contrast between three very different religions: Islam, Christianity, and Hinduism.
